Made this tonight for my Danish mother-in-law who loves and grew up eating beef tongue. It’s her love for a burrito de lengua that inspired me to make it. I found several recipes but this seemed the most tasty and very easy. I followed the recipe to the T and I impressed myself with the outcome. I’m Latina and grew up with all dishes both Mexican and Spanish. I’ve had tongue more times than I can count preferably tacos. I made beans and rice so we had our choice of burrito or taco. I made the very fast and easy salsa verde! The tongue I purchased was about 3.5 lbs and was enough for 8 people with seconds and just enough left over for a burrito for my kid who couldn’t make it. I will make this again especially since mi suegra can’t stop talking about it! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! Excellent!
Loved it! In Finland, we also hide an almond in the rice porridge, but the person who finds it gets a year's full of good luck. I like the idea of winning a marzipan pig, though 😅
I Norway, we also win a marzipan pig if we find the almond in the porridge, but I would have preferred a year of good luck, as I don´t like marzipan. So it was never a prize for me 😅
Rice pudding or not. It's a battle of words. But as a 68-year-old Dane, I have never seen or experienced Risalamande with lemon, alcohol and brown almonds. So I don't want to call this recipe typical Danish.

Another brilliant series from OTK! Was missing you guys.
Glad you liked it!
My mum was Danish and we had this every year and now that I'm an adult I make it every year ❤
This looks delicious! Can't wait to see the rest of the series.
Welcome back! I’m pretty new to the OTK content and am loving it so far!
Thank you! :)
Love, love, love this! Thanks you guys🥰
Oh yeah - an adult version of rice pudding 😊😊
Absolutely delightful!
How wonderful!!!! ❤️
yup, making that!❤
Yum, I’m going to try it! Love the hidden pig idea 😂
Vanilla! Vanilla is crucial to this dish - can´t imagine leaving it out :)
Totally! It's there at 2:07 :)
Omg! Some how I didn’t get that - and was shocked for no reason 😅
Is there a recipe of the drink? Is the rum added to the wodka/jenever or did you put it in instead?
looks delish
Wow so yummy , Merry Christmas 🎄
Same as in Sweden, but we call it Ris a la Malta.
Sofie + Ottoleghi; it doesn't get better than this! Glædelig jul!
Wow, Sofie Hagen has changed up her style since I last saw her in something! And looks really great, as does the pudding.
By "pudding rice", do you mean a short grain rice?
Yes, that's right
❤❤😮😮❤❤😂😂❤❤😊😊

Absolutely, the base is traditional but we've put the Ottolenghi twist on it. We hope you enjoy it!

Since the early 19 hundreds, I’ve eaten it literally all my life as a dane

@yanafelani Just a danish person…?
rice pudding is not danish

Weil I know it isn’t, but it’s the closet I’m coming to describing the real danish foods in English, with the words I know
