This was compelling, had a good (if weird) plot and kept me entertained to the end. I came for the meme, stayed for plot, and enjoyed the ride! Now I need to go down a 5th of whiskey.

Now I feel like I have to go back and rewatch to get a better understanding of the story line. It’s still kind of amazing how much of the story can be conveyed by the animation alone, but it really leaves it up to your own interpretation.
Skibidi toilet is underrated. Especially by adults. Like by episode three the skibidi toilets have indicated their intentions for works domination and by episode 8 the resistance is established. And it’s a full scale war from this point.

I think it is a few things. An obvious rejection of traditional media as a form. Obviously the setting is somewhat post-industrial collapse. Not by accident, it is also present in the plot: cameraheads and speakerheads, and boombox heads are representative of social and sociopolitical identity. And age/generation of course. There is individuality in their expression, but not in their existence. There is power expressed, obviously (militaries and social movements). There is evolution in each social identity. There is development of society toward aggregation of power upward and a coordinate rise in unfettered violence. The violence is institutionalized. Skibidi toilet means no harm, but holds power if need be. It seems to be a generational rallying cry of sorts against what is collapsing around Genalpha, and who is to blame (older than gen alpha). Idk that was way too serious but I’m a grad student in poli sci who studies social media and teaches political economy lol. Just my thoughts based on one watch (and I’m on ep 65).
