    The fact that the bayonet works with not only synthoceps, but also stuff like Sunbreaker roaring flames melee, Sentinel over shield melee, knockout, and the new melee boost on Berserker. Monte is gonna be one of the most fun weapons for Titans.

      I feel like it needs it. I’m a hunter main and feel like the proxi knife doesn’t do a lot of damage so you don’t see it a lot in end game content. At least monte gives you melee energy and provides that safety net like you said.

      @@_alhoussein_ you get pretty potent add clear with necrotics and the long range melee, why not have a lot of uptime *and* champion coverage with Monte? Let’s not forget you also have emergency 90% damage reduction from Weave Walker which would be available more often with Markov Chain and the catalyst. Just saying you get safety, damage, and champion counters with the build now, osteostriga falls off pretty hard in raw DPS if you consider every aspect of the build

    Monte + Synthoceps was already fast becoming a favorite combo of mine on Strand, and the new aspect and the new catalyst is just cementing that even further. (The hardest part is having to make an actual choice in the Strand aspects I run now since all 4 of them are good.)

      Imo banner of war is the way to go lol easy good healing, and 1.4x damage to melees, on top of the 3x from synthos and the ridiculous amount from the caty, thats gonna be a monster against majors lol (in anything except GMs of course lol) I’m looking forward to getting it :)

    Regarding Khepri's Sting, I feel as if its worth noting that the main benefits are coming off Stylish Executioner rather than Khepri's.
    Stylish Executioner synergizes with the Monte Carlo melee allowing it to receive a 2.5x damage bonus + Weaken when using it out of Invisibility granted by Stylish Executioner. Killing them with the Bayonet allows them both to trigger again. Very similar playstyle to Assassin's Cowl. That damage bonus is enough to one shot some Yellow bars even at 25 PL under (GM level) by my testing. I was able to still OHKO a Arc Shielded Revenant Knight in the beginning of Master Light Blade at 1815 PL.
    Khepri's Sting's benefits include the AoE smoke cloud effect around the area of the enemy hit which can lead to Weaken spreading to other enemies so you deal higher damage to them. The area is small but melee enemies tend to clump around you when you go in and out of invis frequently so it can be useful. The extra smoke damage makes securing smoke kills easier for Markov Chain x5 in the first place.
    For higher level content Omnioculus is a bit safer as enemies can target you in those short moments you break invis during melees. The 50% DR is nice and can save your life. The amount of Smokes you get allows you to use them far more for support/debuffing as well especially with the extra charge. Can make getting into Stylish Executioner easier.
    Both are viable though and Khepri's unique interaction is a nice boon but its not the end all best option as there are tradeoffs you will feel in the higher end. Graviton also works as the extra couple of seconds on invis can help you reach a target especially with Vanishing Step allowing the invis from Stylish Executioner to be refreshed giving you 30s of in between time if you somehow ever need it.
    Also worth noting for all 3 exotics. Their innate melee regen perks do not work while the Bayonet is Locked and in your hands. Fortunately Monte helps in the case that becomes an issue though it is worth noting especially for Omnioculus so you swap to another weapon before you do the slam in a support scenario so you don't find yourself out of Smokes and Invis in a bad scenario.

    I kinda wish the bayonet stayed locked until you disengage it. Like you could also slash with it locked, but it only did the super stab when you had markov chain x5.

    Finally we can cosplay as melee Zero in destiny 2. That kepris build is perfect for this.
    On another note, like all normal melees, disruption break should work with the catalyst, giving a free 50% damage on any enemy with a shield. My only problem with this is disruption break is kinda rare these days.

    It should be noted that most melee override moves (such as all the titan slides) can not occur while Monte bayonet is primed. But you CAN activate quickfall from trappers ambush on hunter to use your melee energy while you're bayonet is locked.
    Ive been pairing Monte with my void hunter for weeks now to take advantage very high invis and weaken uptime to pair with my lucky pants (ikelos 1.0.2 with vorpal) and the bayonet gives an even bigger step up with melee damage void hunters have always struggled with imo on top of all their other utility. It is actually insane!

    I always enjoyed running Monte with Doom Fangs on my Titan, and with the changes to both of them? I'm really loving drowning the room in purple explosions, especially with my Basso Ostinato or whatever it's called with Destabilizing Rounds. Get the shield kill, proc the bayonet and make everyone volatile, punch or shank them for the explosions and healing, then ramp up to either bubble or sentinel shield. It's great.

      Super good aspect. Only counter I know of is stasis, since you can be frozen out of it. I assume supression also works

      Two most effective weapons are Conditional Finality, Tractor Cannon
      Shackle nades, supress nades, and cold snaps are extremely good to counter

    Thank you for pointing out once it's locked in, it stays. I was thinking once the timer ran out the bayonette went with it .That makes it much more dangerous.

      It also doesn't consume Markov chain, so if you're fast you can get 2-3 bayonets within 1 melee kill, and if it does kill, it'll refresh the stacks

    The dmg looks alright but I think it could get boring fast as the gameplay loop of reactivating the bayonet could get tedious, I think on Titan tho with the melee giving an over shield could be extremely interesting

    Wait... what about peregrine greaves and offensive bulwark? Highest damage melee that gives OS on kills then does the bayonet get coated in void energy like your plain fists do? Does it proc controlled demolition while OS is on like regular punching will? What about with roaring flames? Does it make the bayonet scorch like your unpowered melee does while roaring flames is active? Knockout? Jolt?

    Well Then!!! I've been having a blast with the new Moth Gauntlets + Exotic GL Combo awaiting the Catalyst drop. PRO TIP... Probably best to not use this set-up in the Lightblade NF the amount of times I got blown up by what i thought were friendly moths 😄
    Monty with Caliban's Hand & a secondary that can cause Scorch is gunna be FUN.
    Although I definitely think Titans won with this one!! Feedback Fences treated me well last season so I'm interested to try them out after the changes! Cannon Brace too!

    fun fact, if your stabbing a boss purely for dmg, since the 5 stacks of markov chain lasts for 5 ish seconds, you have enough time to stab and reproc the baynet without needing another melee kill.

    Some others have pointed out but ill say it again, the Markov Chain buff is much higher than swashbuckler. Its 65% at X5 stacks I believe.

    I just wish you didnt have to hold reload button to activate it every time. If you get at kill with bayonet, it should stay there for 5 seconds or something 😅

      For the kind of use we are giving it, it's true that having to hold the button every 0.5 seconds it gonna be a bit annoying. I guess it's to not just spam it as if it was a glaive, but I honestly don't know what else they could have done. imo those 5 seconds of just melee monte could be a bad thing too, since you're locked from shooting for 5 seconds now, and while it doesn't look like much, it sure can break the flow of the battle and/or get you killed. Do elaborate if you have any other ideas tho, it's interesting.

    Honestly I'm surprised that the bayonet doesn't give grenade energy? Like, I've felt that it was already pretty good at regenerating my melee energy, even on like Strand Warlock where you have 3 charges. And I've thought for a while that an exotic that's basically the grenade version of Monte Carlo would be awesome to have, but it made more sense to me if it was just part of the catalyst. I know I can just run like Grenade Kickstart, Impact Induction, and Heavy Handed together to get grenade energy back fast also just by using the Bayonet, but I'm surprised it's not already built in that you get like 20-25% Grenade energy for each Bayonet hit or kill or something. I know I'm still going to love using the Monte Carlo for home defense as the founding fathers intended, but in a way the benefit for using the Bayonet itself is surprisingly a little bit underwhelming to me. After all, killing an enemy has a (pretty good) chance to give you a whole melee charge already, and a full mag of damage gets you from nothing to like ~65ish percent energy, so I've never felt like I needed another buff to regaining melee energy on the same weapon. Maybe I'm just insane and need to actually experience the difference between no catalyst and with catalyst myself; maybe the melee energy portion will grow on me - especially with Impact Induction, I imagine.

      @@FlammableRadish I finally finished the catalyst last night myself, got to mess with it a little bit but haven't really given it a good test yet. The damage was certainly nice, and I do think that when enemies get up close it's better to just use the bayonet than spray at them of course, both in terms of killing them fast and for energy regen (not considering the chance for full refill on kill here). I do have a feeling that the way to use it best is going to be what we would expect: shoot for mid range and further, bayonet if they get close, and don't concern yourself with using the bayonet with the purpose of getting back your melee unless you're on a class that only has one, in which case get two stabs, huck your melee, then go back to shooting or stabbing. I think the biggest thing to me is that while the bayonet is cool and actually an effective weapon, the way it affects your gameplay just isn't significant to the hype about "the most complex catalyst we've made to date" and everything. Sure on the programming side it must have been, but for gameplay it functions the exact same as Quicksilver or Nagi's or Revision Zero: hold reload, get second functionality to your gun. Certainly fun and cool, I love our different "combination" weapons and would love to see more, even some legendary weapons with similar features, but we all know that Nagi's and Quicksilver are the king and queen, and Revision and Monte have to live in their shadows. Even the grenade energy idea, which I think is still fitting for Monte's catalyst, wouldn't be enough to compete with the sheer effectiveness of Nagi's and Quicksilver.

      @@FlammableRadish I feel that lmao; I killed a group of maybe 6 Acolytes with the bayonet and honestly it probably would have been faster to just gun them down. To a degree, ALL of the hold reload interactions feel a little slow and clunky, like the press/hold delay is a little long and then the interaction animation itself takes a bit, but when it comes to a bayonet in particular, there's nothing to "ready" like Quicksilver Storm or Revision Zero. You should just be able to stabby stabby, no muss no fuss, like the founding fathers intended. It's great to finally have a working bayonet in-game, and I hope to see similar additions in the future like for Red Death when it gets added or even just for weapons with like suppressors and laser sights and such (I mean some sights and scopes literally give you a red outline around targets as a little innate buff, why can't these things get actual effects?). But at the same time, I feel like the novelty of having a bayonet is the main benefit, and the overall effectiveness, perk, and implementation could have been polished up a little more.

    Wondering how it would work with Ophedia Spathe. Endless solar knives scorch spread and ignitions. With solar hunter aspect you get free melee back anyway. But with Focusing Strike arm mod and weapon perk, even if you whiff solar knives, you have a back up right away.

    Wish it automatically went back into Bayonetta mode after getting a Bayonetta kill. Having to see that switch animation back to back to back will get old.

    My pvp build w this is shoulder charge w peeegrines on arc, so i get a peregrines kill, load up the bayonette, while amplified i slide towards another enemy shoot them a couple times as i get closer then stab rhen w the bayonette, get half my shoulder charge back, theb w thruster and double overreach (i believe thats the melee energy mod on the mark) and slide over one speicial brick w spark of momentum, i get like 90% of my shoulder charge back, and i can just keep cycling that

      Yep! I saw this thing in Light GG and noticed it's essentially a stasis Messenger with a good origin trait. Don't have to play Trials for it either

    This thing is SUPER strong with Weavewalker Threadling builds... like holy crap, the amount of threadlings you generate is beyond belief.
    Weavewalker uses your melee charge. Since Warlocks have three melee charges, you can have so much uptime with Weavewalker and generate a full pack of threadlings. Couple this with the fact that you can also unravel an enemy first with your empowered melee before you do this, you will have so much damage. If you are running Swarmers as well, killing the unraveled target drops a tangle for you to spawn more threadlings and cycle through the process perpetually.

    My intial thought. Use it with void warlock - devour, winters guile, with a 1-2 punch shot gun. I wonder if 1-2 punch will buff the monte carlo melee damage?

    Early. Im guessing we're going to get some build videos with exotic armor pairings and things such as Monte Carlo to feed the new strand warlock aspect and taking advantage of the fact it's a kinetic weapon by using Chromatic Fire, which also spreads the buffed Sever. You could even consume a shackle grenade to spread suspend tohold enemies there to take the explosions or bayonet attacks.

    Make it so you get the bayonet locked automatically if the enemy you stab dies and we are in business. It's still really good but man I hate holding R after every single stab.

    It’s amazing but I still think the melee regen from sunbracers grande kills is still arguably better. Not saying that it’s better for use since the melee regen is only to generate grenades and not actually enhance melee.

    Just FYI, Markov Chain proc even when Monte is stowed. Yes, you can get a melee kill from OTP shotgun and swap to a full mag, MC*5 Monte.

    Oh man, this with the new Strand Warlock aspect looks so fun. 90% DR and then spawn a huge swarm of threadlings, stab about 3 enemies, rinse and repeat

    Interesting Hunter Idea: Run the Caliban's Hand combo, activate Markov's chain with the melee final blow, then right after that activate bayonett, then one-shot the next guy if they got caught in the combo and did not die.

    Monte Carlo also goes well with the new Warlock aspect, "Weavewalk".... which is tied to the melee ability charge. Between having lots of uptime on Weavewalk, and getting healing from Karnstein Armlets, that's some good survivability.

    It's cool but a pain to keep reactivating. I get they couldn't have people running around like they did before glaves got nerfed in combination with sytho so it makes this thing more trouble than it's worth

      Ye they should let it stay activated if you get the kill but once you damage an enemy that doesnt die in one hit, that will deactivate it!?

    So i wanted to make a build with consecration. And pugilist on a wastelander was the most consistent to get the powered melee back. Monte Carlo is busted now😢

    I’m pissed it doesn’t work with Felwinter’s helm, legit one of my favourite exotics with the main weakness of getting melee or finisher kills consistently. I am sad
