As an angler in southern England the Alder is a very well known tree to me and one of the first I was able to identify as a kid. Great descriptive and informative vlog, I learnt a lot 🤓 I love the old English country name 'Whistle Wood' we have some lovely old English colloquial names for many of our plants, trees, birds and animals. I love the old English name for the Kestrel 'The Wind Hovver' really descibes the bird perfectly. And my favourite for the long tailed tit 😊 ' The Hedge Mumruffin' which baffles me lol.
Great video Craig - I've always thought Alder is a pretty tree. One use for Alder to add to your list is clogs, it's water-resistance makes it great for clog-soles.
Very good graig love your tree ids vids just returned from Venice the Gide was talking about the wood pile that Venice was built on I didn’t now it was alder !! Regards Marty cuff,
