I have a question... I have a 10 Gal hot water heater in my RV. will these work in a RV, and is there a thermostat for these so they will shut down when the water reaches a specified temp ? Also, Do these drain the battery real quick ?
Sir, how are you? very fine video and i am from Pakistan i have 12 volt DC water heater purchased via online today. i want to run this watet heater directly from solar panels and my solar panel voltage is 20 volts. May i use this 12 volt DC water heater at 20 volts
Can there elements heat up if connected directly to the solar panel (with a fuse for safety) would a 12 volt element burn out without a charge controller because the panel is putting out 18+ volts?
Living Lightly - it depends on the solar panel. as you seen the 12v unit it 300 watts, is very unlikely that with 2 x200w panels that you will get the full 400w even at peak hours. for this reason i would use battery pack and a thermostat to cut power. if your storage tank is insulated enough, it should retain its heat for long periods. i used to have an old thermos flask with a home made element that was supprisingly affective!
Yes but you can buy a 24 volt element and 18 volts probably heat. You can add a high watt resistor. I would buy an element that works 12 to 24 volts I think I saw them online. 73
I have 48 volt solar panels, 32 volt battery bank and controller... i use a divert load 48 volt dc coil in a 12 gal tank , sofar water temps go 82-112 in seattle summer... would 36 volt dc coil deliver more heat with same divert load from same controller???? I am thinking about winter is on the way...
What about a 12v water heater for a 35 foot sailboat? What kind of panels and storage would one need to have hot water in the galley and in the head for sink and shower. This is also going to be an electric propulsion sailboat. No engine like most others. The boat will be totally off grid. No propane, kerosene or alcohol for cooking.
300W resistor = 150W resistor + 150W resistor ; must be in series. . . If you connect the 150W resistors in *parallel* , you get 75W resistor ,------- 150W resistor -------, 75W resistor = -------' '------------- '------- 150W resistor --------'
Question my freind im stuck for the moment ? i bought a trinasolar panel 365 watt, 39v, 9.3 amp, open circuit voltage 48.0 volt, i dont have battery bank i want to run direct from solar panel like i seen on youtube what watt dc element do you recommend?
will 35 volts be enough voltage to heat my 24 volt hot water element or will it burn out? if so how much ought i use? I amusing an element rated 12 volts, and now i am trying one rated 24, and solar panels are supplying my power.
When ever I see boiling water I think of egg salad sandwiches. Must be a Pavlov response in my brain. I'll bring the eggs, boil them and line them up so you can shot them with the beast of a gun in the seat behind you ;)
To cime in here: To address Goodolboy One, question. I used 200 watt Solar and the 12v Element on my 10 gallon RV with no problem. I made my Own Thermostat it easy, just use Electric CONTACT Temp Sensor(s). I don't live in the RV, so were out having fun all day it's heat up..... The same Panels also keep my 12v Batteries Completely charged up, then dump into the Water heater..... Simple system, totally COST EFFECTIVE. You don't need all the PRICEY stuff to have a SAFE and RELIABLE SYSTEM. Remember even your Propane can get the water to hot, that's why theres a Blow Off valve.
Please just hook those state up to a 12 vote solar... there is a produck gap in 12 vote heater and heat bulbs that can heat in the day time .. to help heat a home.. safely for free.. and with out damage wire and solar and element
Why would we just hook it up to 12 volt solar? There is no gap in the market all needs are covered? Are you serious? You think your going to heat a home with a 12 volt dc water heating element?
YES YES. Day time free winter heat Simple. .It is low cost way to help heat a home.. Like it to be a set it and forget it .. A dc to ac converter will reset it self low watts .. no we do not wont a batter buffer ... so cut both of them out .. add a 55 gal drum and a heat element . Your it cant find a 12 vote heat lamp on the sheep.. can not find a 12 v oil felled heater.. one should put a heating element in to a cast iron stem heater and pipe it in to the cold side of the house water heater.. one may need to add a stem vent valve.. .
Dude your not heating 55 gallons of oil or water any time soon with a 300 watt element. In the winter by the time the oil or water got hot the sun would be down. I guess it's workable but it's not free by all means and it would not be as simple as hooking a solar panel to a hot water heating element
no do not heat oil .. make a water heater to heat a room..I don't now why it would not work.. when solar making 4 watt. you get low heat .. it may top out at 260 watt. your making good heat Look your playing with them your marking them.. They make a solar panel for this task. thicker wire and all.. Just tell us what the out put at um .. say 30 and 100 watts 12 v. dc.
the laws of thermodynamics are still in play if we have a measure of 300 watt in we still get 300 watts of water heating out. Not 3000 watts like a big AC water heater. They take longer to heat larger volumes of water and the energy transfer done in heating would lose energy. If you make it work show me how because this would be nobel prize worthy
we have had good luck with ours if you want to give it another try we will stand behind the product so long as it is used in the proper dc water heating application.
I just installed a DC assist Het pump. I'm looking to install a dump load into my 10 gallon electric hot water tank that is in front of my Noritz tank-less. I'm also looking for new subs to my channel. Check it out.

@@HurricaneWindPowercom It's pretty cool to find someone who was close by in this field. Most everyone is either in a RV Arizona, or California. The community college in my area has a certificate course but solar hasn't caught much traction in this area.
A few points. I have Virginia Tech engineering students come down here every year which are clueless. Most teachers I come across are clueless as are the people identifies and experts on youtube. Once you figure out who to follow self teaching is underrated. I have been doing this 12 years learn new things everyday so not sure where your at but it's not so much where you at for me it was all of the wasted time following the wrong people which I can tell you will never get you anywhere

Great video and BEST intro ever :)
How do I connect my coil to a solar panel does it need to go into a battery first or can i go directly from the controller to the coil.
How much time it will take to heat up 65 deegree centigrade of 20 ltrs of water... 300 watt coil?
Is it possible to heat up 30L of water to 60 Celsius with a 12v system in less than an hour?
Many thanks
Yes, it is possible

Well did you end up trying? I feel it would be okay being submerged in water.
Can there elements heat up if connected directly to the solar panel (with a fuse for safety) would a 12 volt element burn out without a charge controller because the panel is putting out 18+ volts?

Do you guys sell Voltage Regulator Module / Dimming / Motor Speed Controller / Thermostat for your DC water elements?
those sure are nice. be great for use with solar and wind.
McCuneWindandSolar I think we have a good product here looking for as much efficiency as possible

Put relay inside the water too. No need to waste heat.
people do not put the relay in the water
why did you dissconect the one on the left? i could see it stop when you moved to the battery and the camera zoomed in on the 2 glasses of water.
nothing was disconnected not sure what your referring to

Can't I input DC to a regular 115V element, just not the other way around?
i did purchase the 12 volts 300 watts from ebay, is there any polatiry to be followed in connecting at 12 volts dc?
for a heating element NO it does not matter.
is it safe to touch the water while the heater element is on?
It's 12V Yes.
Is the 300w resistor composed with 2 resistors 150w ?
150w X 2 = 300w ?
300W resistor = 150W resistor + 150W resistor ; must be in series.

If you connect the 150W resistors in *parallel* , you get 75W resistor

48v
I didn’t hear you mention the wattage on both elements heating the water
we have several wattage and voltage available
Hey, Is it possible to heat a 8gallon (30Liters) with the 12v heater? Or is it too much? Thank you
Yes

WINDGENEERING that machine is not for eggs. The eggs have not done anything to me
Yeah you’re so smart Einstein
About time you recognize jeff
why not take a home wall thermostat to the side of the hot water ele heater ,hook to a 12 volt car solenoid to turn on and off water heater in tank
how to purchase 24volt elements do have any idea plz
