To compare I purchased my slingshot with 400 miles on it so the 500 mile was done for free along with a ton of recall work. at 5000 miles it was 120. 10,000 it was 230 - the 230 was also a brake flush which is done every 2 years.
@@1TH-cam_you trust me it's in there, i will look it up tomorrow if i have the time, believe me you will want to do that, mine had grease mixed with the oil. Im guessing they put that in the angle/rear end because of new parts rubbing together, keeping break in to a minimum. Plus its easy to do. You can buy a cheap bottle pump with a hose attached at any parts store.
@@regancollins1465 i know this is old but i have a 2019 SLR and in the manual you are nowhere near doing the angle drive fluid replacement until 50k miles. BUT i do recommend doing every 15 to 20k miles
50,000 miles for the angle drive fluid change on my 17 SL per maintenance schedule.. don’t believe me look it up the manual is available on Polaris website
I think they took you to the cleaners bud. I bought my GT LE at Barton Power Sports and I did the 500 mile first service and the second 5000 mile service and they charged me $120 both times. I was only there for about 30 minutes both times. No way it took 2 hours to service your machine. I wouldnt set foot back in that place if I were you. They gouged you man!!! You should go back and have them explain how Barton can do the same service for a third of the price compared to them. They are both certified Slingshot dealerships. Maybe you can contact Polaris and ask them what the price and timeline should be for a service. Just a thought! Sling on~~
Oh ya, got to watch.. some dealerships are like vultures around a gut pile.. i am a mechanic, bought a SL slingshot, contacted Polaris just to see about running it through a polaris inspection, however after they informed me that they would require the machine in their shop for a whole month I declined.. not many of these units around here.. maybe three or four in the province.. the mass of dealers have never ever even saw one, but they had it figured that i was going to pay them to educate themselves on their own product.. I dont think so! ..there is no mystery to these machines, besides missing a wheel at back, these are extremely basic cars - extremely basic. If you have tools and mechanical aptitude, you will have no problem working on this machine and the savings from dealership are astronomical.
the video was painfully long to get to the info. thank for the warning too. dealers service centers are always a rip off. they make their money basically overcharging the customer. I live in the north east. they act like there won't be a discount. so crazy high pricing continue to scare off wouldbe buyers. thanks again for the info.
I was in a similar situation with my Triumph Thunderbird where I couldn't get it to the dealer for the 500 mile service. I went ahead and changed the oil myself. I'm not sure about the Slingshot but on the Triumph the oil is a break in oil so it is not meant to provide optimal protection, it is meant to facilitate breakin. Looking to pick up a Slingshot soon, and if I wind up with a new one, that will be my plan. Honestly in my experience, that was about right for a service.
2 hours of labor is reasonable, 30 minutes to change the oil and an hour and a half for the check ride. Nice video you shared a lot and everyone should watch to find out how to save a bunch on the purchase. I am guessing the price you paid for service was with your discount?
a 15 min video to say what should take 1 min....ridiculous ! btw, You can buy 5 qts top quality oil for about $18 (walmart), a good filter for less than $10 and skip the washer (reuse the original), do it yourself for less than $28 at home in your driveway.
The prices don't seem that unreasonable for the oil and filter, assuming that you are talking Mobil 1. That stuff is about $10 a quart, and the filter for the 2.0L ecotech on my Saab is about $15. That being said, that stuff is good for 18,000 miles. If they are putting dino in and charging you $10 a quart then they are screwing you. If they are putting synthetic in and telling you that it needs to be changed every 5,000 miles then they are screwing you.
to each their own but i prefer to do my own service on my car & motorcycle at home. a top quality oil like Quakerstate 5w-30 (5 qts) full synthetic cost about $18 at walmart, there are plenty of good filters for less than $10.
don't waste your time 15 minutes of blabber....all you may learn is 500 miles maintenance cost at dealer / oil change 308 bucks. nuff said 50 bucks tops if you do it yourself.
11:00 Gets to the point.
Thank you. He was blabbing about nada like dude we know already all the other bs get to point 😂
❤️
You did a hero's work today. Thank you.
I almost turned the video off. Thanks for the info.
exactly...he has diarrhea of the mouth !!!
3 minutes in and we still haven’t talked “maintenance costs for a slingshot”
Thanks lol

500 mile service is motor oil change/Angle drive change and grease the drive yoke, all easy to do it yourself.
Regan Collins doesn’t say in my book to change the angle drive fluid at 500 miles. Where does it say to do that at 500 miles?

No surprise, took my Goldwing Tourer DCT to the dealer for an oil change. $340. Never ever going back. Shop rates are ridiculous.
Great information! I didn't know about the Costco discount.I know this video is 3 years old, however, thanks for the info!

Costco here in Florida doesn't have anything set up with slingshot dealerships!
I was expecting the initial service to be around $500. I’d gladly accept your coat. Enjoy your ride. I’m hoping to have mine for next riding season
Good info- but you got a bat in cave and it was hard to overlook that during the video. Always do a boogie check brother! ;)
Boogie check🥴😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

"Slingshot maintenance cost" Not a click bait where I hear you talk about yourself and how you like it.
It’s a Chevy motor? Why at 500 miles does it need changed ? Chevy cars don’t need changed at 500 miles..
Slingshots do. They have to get the metals out of the oil... at least that is what they say
yep!

Goddamn your long winded, I wasted my my coffe break for this ????
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cosco purchase plan huh? 🤔 Thank you for that information. I'm not a Cosco member but, I'm a about to be.
just remember how the cosco purchaser got treated at the dealer !
5:33 in and still no price- get to the point -shit
Nice clean video!!!
I'm a month and a half too late on your video. I purchased a slingshot without the Costco discount. Bummer
Don't feel bad, they have since discontinued the program for Slingshots.
Drag it out a little longer Jesus Christ

What was the shop...I want to avoid them.

Jesus Christ, get to the damn point. Babbling on an on an on.
I want one but I don't wanna pay 20000
Can Am Spyder cost 425.00
Cheaper than Harely... $484 for oil change
Thanks for talking slowing. Easier to understand
A Total Rip OFF////
WTF? Omg man! They seen you coming! There’s a sucker born every minute. I think you got took sucka!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cents
You got ripped off
Way too much talking about crap not related to the service cost…
you have a bat in the cave; very distracting
Don't act old by talking too much.
Talk way too much
