The Platters were always my favorite group of the 50s. Vocally, I don't know how any group could be tighter.
What good music we had then compared to today's rubbish.
True
At leasti can listen to these bands music online.
Gene Vincent and the Bluecaps. Cliff Gallups guitar playing was exceptional.
Many of these were great singers and entertainers, but could hardly be called “bands”.
I saw a halo gram concert of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. I don’t know how they did it, but it was like they were actually on the stage. They had real musicians and back up singers. That was the most amazing show I ever saw.
I can't believe that the Four Lads weren't on the list.
I guess we don't want them back?
Plus, they came later. 1960s mainstream.
@@r.a.contrerasma8578 Actually, The Four Lads had 26 hits chart on the Billboard pop charts between 1951 & 1959. 10 of them made the Top 10.
The Platters did 322 concerts? Fats Domino would nearly do that in one year.
Don Everly died on August 21, 2021
No Fleetwoods? By the way, all three original members of the Fleetwoods are still alive today
