These sets should be made available as Train Packs "Models From Yesteryear". Bring back some more of the older models with slight upgrades and at a price that the average man in the street can afford. Then Hornby can return to being the number one for quality and price.

I didn't own this but it would be fantastic to create a train pack as the Cornish Riviera Express with a GWR King class with lamp brackets lamps and Headboard from fox transfers also with some MK1 coaches in Chocolate & Cream livery or Blood & Custard

I received this set for Christmas around 97/98. It was fantastic. I still own the loco but it's now sadly a non runner. The BR Mk1 Coaches from the set still see constant use on my layout tho and I've posted a video on my channel of them in use with the newer tooling of the Hornby King & Castle classes in a cornish Riviera Express themed video.

Nice to see some models of a regional nature .. would be great if there was more MSWJR ones available, though .. and other regions too ..

I have a train set from Bachmann, a train set of GWR status consisting of a much smaller Great Western 4-6-0 Rood Ashton Hall and three coaches (two Pullman Cars and a Chocolate & Cream Mk. 1 Brake/Support Coach). Meaning The Shakespeare Express. The certificate that came with it is stuck to my bedroom wall. Rood Ashton Hall is now in my category of five favourite steamies, to make six. I haven't met her in the flesh yet. My favourite Bachmann Train Set? Thomas the Tank Engine with his coaches Annie and Clarabel. My favourite Hornby Train Set? Santa Express.

Both of course Castle and a King with a mixed rake of six western coaches!!!
I like the prices then, but the recent releases now!

What happened to the tooling for the GWR centenary coaches? They would be great to see back in the Railroad range or create some up to date versions of the coaches.

Blimey, that Cardigan Castle looked a bit woebegone in the stills; how'd the running gear end up getting that rusty?
