As a Notts supporter I'm very happy with this addition, a physical CB was definitely our biggest need going into the new season after the amount of goals we conceded last time out.
Couldn't agree more with what you've said. Can't believe the amount of city fans who aren't bothered that platts gone in general... but especially to a league 2 rival
9:00 You’ve still not clicked. Read yesterday’s T&A interview with Sharpe. Like I said at the start, he’s not a DOF. He is part of a “transfer committee” of which Ryan Sparks is part of. Ryan Sparks is still very much involved with footballing matters. And David Sharpe doesn’t have a final say like a DOF, he’s on equal levels with Gent and Alexander. He confirmed that today in his own words. He’s also kind of confirmed Mark Hughes was the architect of most of the 3 year deals without saying it too. Hughes would talk to agents and so would Sparks. So if contracts are more sensible that is likely Sharpes influence on Sparks, just like the 3 year deals were Hughes influence on Sparks. Think of it this way. You are CEO of a football club, and the fun bit is the FM24 side of it. You don’t want to let go of doing what you did before so you spend a wage on hiring someone who can help you with ideas. If you don’t like his ideas and you’ve found this wonder kid (in your opinion at least) and the guy advising you doesn’t rate him, you’re going to sign him anyway. If he suggests someone and you don’t like him, or he says to spend some of your transfer budget on new staff, you’re just going to ignore his advice. If you like an idea he has, you’re going to agree to it. Basically that’s how it works. And the best we can hope for is that Sparks likes more of Sharpes ideas than he doesn’t. Or nothing will change and eventually Sharpe will get fed up and move on. Finally Platt. He said in an interview with Notts County he wants to play out from the back, which he famously didn’t seem to want to do for Hughes (can’t recall the game where he made his frustration obvious). So I can only think he wants to develop that side of his game now, so he might improve in that department over time. He also said a few things that could insinuate that the good things about Notts Co that attracted him, like an owner with a vision, might not exist at Bradford City. It was almost like he has an X account and read what has been said over the years at the club by fans and agrees. In media terms it is possible he’s done the fans a favour so he leaves with no hard feelings from me, as I’d encourage any outgoing players to back the fans and if they see what we see, say it.
From a Notts perspective, This a a massively positive move. Our defensive weaknesses are well known, From what I understand, He is solid and just what we need. From what you are saying He will be a huge asset To Stuart Maynard's squad. I am sure that he can develop his distribution through the training regime at Notts, so no problem So it's Welcome Matty.
I'm a Notts supporter , we clearly needed more no nonsense defenders , we have a cracking midfield when palmer comes back and our wingers and front men are second to none our goals record last season proves that .our defense was shocking sort that out and i'm happy.
Absolutely gutted to see Platt go and he will be massively missed...Byrne has been brought in to replace Taylor as a squad player and for cover and you'd think GA will have Platts replacement lined up...If he hasn't then a massive F**K up has been made by the club... I just hope the club don't let themselves down now and undo all the good work from getting Sarcevic and Byrne in early...I agree Sam there's plenty of time to go in the window and I'm hopeful GA will have identified Platts replacement and won't hang around getting him in the building...Fingers crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻🐔🐓😍😍
great signing for notts that needed a domiant aerial winning centre half. last season we had league one forward Ine and national league defence 86 goals score 85 against. Sorry bantams good for us as we transition from being a national league team to being a promotion rival
Great bit of business for us not so much for the Bantams. We've had our share of star performers leaving at contract's end and only if you're very lucky do you ever find a like for like replacement. Best wishes for next season, see you at Meadow Lane. 😎🇬🇷
Notts fan here, I really hope he works. Really excited with his defensive prowess, However, slightly concerned with his lack of ball playing skills. Playing as the centre of a back 3, first of all we as a defensive line are pushed all the way to the half way line and secondly with the way we play our cb’s HAVE to be comfortable on the ball. So slightly concerned, I feel with the way we play, we need a league 1 level ball playing CB (highly unlikely I know)
Hopefully, he will develop his distribution skills at Notts. It will be a learning curve but maybe it's what he wants to do and be the next stage of his career. It maybe a positive move for him and for Notts.
His distribution is terrible - have you all forgotten that ! Often caught out of position, doesn't have any pace. To say that he's the best defender in the league - seriously you been at the wine gums again. Let's just wait and see shall we.
One of the best cbs in the leauge yet weve leaked tons of goals and haven’t got anywhere since hes been here this isn’t as big of a loss as people r making it out to be hes a ok league 2 defender thats all he can’t play out at all hes slow and isn’t that great in the air all the top cbs in the promoted teams have those things
Big loss but we move! This is football, hopefully we have replacements lined up. When contracts were offered the club said they'd given players deadlines so we didn't miss out on possible target replacements
Massive player he was shocked that city didn’t try there best to keep him could have offered him signing in fee just to keep him I think our manager is clueless he’s not good enough to be our manager
As a Notts supporter I'm very happy with this addition, a physical CB was definitely our biggest need going into the new season after the amount of goals we conceded last time out.
He’ll certainly bring that!
sad times that’s so disappointing
Couldn't agree more with what you've said. Can't believe the amount of city fans who aren't bothered that platts gone in general... but especially to a league 2 rival
Crazy isn’t it?🤯🤯
As a County fan,i feel sympathy for you City fans.
Fingers crossed,a positive for us.
Hopefully you can fill his spot well.
🤝🤞

The Club should be ashamed of themselves not able to keep this pivotal player
💯
If a player wants to move on and is out of contract, what can you do?

He wants to play in a possession based team?
Not sure that suits his own skill set?
I'm a Notts supporter , we clearly needed more no nonsense defenders , we have a cracking midfield when palmer comes back and our wingers and front men are second to none our goals record last season proves that .our defense was shocking sort that out and i'm happy.

Money Talks !
Sounds like he went due to style of play, not money?🥲
If you believe Notts are paying players anything like Bradford you are very much deluded
Good signing for County
💯
Huge loss for us, gutted!
💯
Will he suit their system, who knows?
🤷♂️🤷♂️
Good player was platt but for me we need leaders and a captain and a organiser at the back too many heads dropped when going got tough

Cheers for the kind words, good luck next season!

14 clean sheets and 18 wins in 35 when he played, 1 clean sheet and 1 win in 11 when he didn't.
Gutted
💯
Big Lost for us big gian for notts

Personally I don't think it's a massive lost. I'd rather keep him but he wasn't the greatest especially passing
We did only win 1 game without him last season to be fair.
He wanted to go and that’s that! Dosnt matter what we offered him, and Byrne is a replacement to Taylor!
We can only hope!
Massive player he was shocked that city didn’t try there best to keep him could have offered him signing in fee just to keep him I think our manager is clueless he’s not good enough to be our manager
Wdym not good enough? 😭 he’s done good for us
Shameful. We wouldve lost halliday, pointon, walker if it wasnt for extension triggers.
