With messages on our local community allotment page regarding Storm Lilian, we decided to go down and check for damage on the plot.
Pictures of other plots were posted, and not every plot was spared with reports of blowouts and flying poly greenhouses.
We've been here before, and it's a small taste of things to come as the season draws to the end.

Grapes look great Elaine 👌, hope the blight stays away from the tomatoes. My tomatoes have collapsed 😮. Good amount of pears 👌👍😁💪
@nickthegardener.1120 Hi Nick. Yes, lots of pears this year. Didn't get around to the couple we had last year. They will be processed in due course. Pity about your tomatoes collapsing. Did you get any harvested?

Glad no real damage Elaine, it’s absolutely chucking it down here so I’m in the house 😂, winds are tolerable though. Cute pond and great fresh water bowl 😊. Flowers are gorgeous ❤. Yes I prefer savoy than kalibos. Do you eat the sprout tops, we do like little cabbage plants. Getting some fab harvests Elaine and grapes look great. Could it be wind burn? @myrustygarden Hi Ali. I will be eating the sprout tops. There weren't many last year. Still windy here but sunny. Chanel loves the new pond laugh. Just the right height. They've got water in the other garden but it's not pond water 😂 Got a few beans to harvest yet. So much to preserve but I will get there. I hope the weather improves for you. Take care 🌸🌸🌸❤️

Some of my leek i think are developing rust ... hope i am wrong.
First time i have done kalibros and totally agree i am not keen and wont be doing them next year will be doing the ball ones again.
Iv got a grape vine in my garden but not had grapes as yet.
The wind has been awful !!
Im going to do my potato reveal and tidy the back garden today before the rain arrives about 2pm.
@traceysallotment2506 I find the bees like the open dahlias the best. I'm watching a bee trying a crash landing on one of the tall sunflowers. The wind is blowing them about a bit laugh. Yes, deffo the round cabbages next year. Your grape will do okay outside. If it's a small plant, I'd put some fleece around it when it goes dormant. It will protect it from the elements. Elaine do you have storage for all your cabbage? I tried some this year and got 3 nice heads. Also do you know what I can do to keep my, celery from being bitter. Glad all is ok God bless
@karenchaney9160 Hi Karen. I'm going to freeze my cabbage (providing we have got enough space), make some sauerkraut (we've got the jar, just have to get on with it) and hand a couple away to a soup kitchen. Celery, I would keep the stalks covered. They also don't like full sun. I've got mine between the tomatoes. Take care, Elaine 🌱 🌸🌸🌸
