Just another Tori fan here.. Ever since I first heard her, about a year ago, I can't get enough! From her covers of Karen's music to her Olivia Newton John covers, she is a delight to the ear and soul.
Would absolutely love to see you have a chat with Tori, she is so self effacing and genuine. For me she is one of those vocalists whose voice so vividly penetrates with its simple clarity and resonance while at the same time allowing the listener to feel like they genuinely know her. And thank you for giving kudos to Joe on the request. His efforts in helping to promote Tori's talents with reactors has provided so much enjoyment for those of us who share his enthusiasm for her gift.
Her voice is like being swaddled by the nostalgia of the absolute Best of the 70s. Everytime i hear it im transported back to great memories of my youth. Her voice is a balm in bitter times.
Oh yeah, that was a Carpenter song, I had to listen to her singing a little of it to remember it! Very cool 👍👍, awesome Tori girl!!! She's a pretty girl with a pretty voice!!
What a gift young Tori has! I don't think I have ever heard anyone articulate the feeling of hearing Karen Carpenter's sweet alto as "comforting", but that is spot. on. To my ear, it may also have something to do with the amazingly sweet harmonies the Carpenters were able to fill each song with, as well, but nonetheless... comforting.
Hi Jeff, Thanks for this reaction/analysis. I’m going fill in some details on this as I see errors in the comments already. This song was written by Richard Carpenter and Cynthia Weil. It was for the upcoming Carpenters album. Karen died before even hearing the song. Later in 1987 Richard made his solo album, Time. This song was on it with Dusty Springfield on lead vocal. There is a video. Karen obviously never sang this. Tori performed this (the ONLY non-Carpenters song) at the 55th Anniversary Celebration, Acoustic Concert. It was held at the church where Karen had her funeral service and later Richard married Mary. The audience was filled with attendees of the 55th and locals who knew Karen and Richard personally. I was an attendee. I’m guessing 80% of the audience didn’t know Tori and what had been previously polite and respectful applause was thunderous after Tori finished this song. They all knew Tori and her talent after. She was the youngest of the eight invited acts. And yes you spotted Sally and Ned from Carpenters Legacy in Las Vegas. They performed their show on the first night at the Downey Theatre. It was a full house and I saw them there. After she got home, Tori was disappointed in the sound from the concert. It was a church, boomy and crowd noise like coughing. So she made this “Studio Version.” She 100% produced this on her own using the piano track that Drew the accompanist gave her. For the first time she gave herself “Producer” credit in the description. Deservedly so. If you or anyone reading this is interested. I recorded Tori at the church with my iPhone. It is on my channel, via clicking through my name. I also have a pinned comment linking all the Official 55th videos including a 90 minute interview with Richard. He was a surprise guest on the last night. He was not at the concert. Tori and other dignitaries were whisked into the side room where RC magically appeared from after the event ended. The photo of RC and Tori is on my thumbnail. I hope I helped with clarity for why this was so special. It was a magical four day event and the concert was one of the top highlights and RC was and OMG moment for those of us not in the know! Joe
It's so refreshing to know we have talents like twenty year old Tori reminding us of some of the great old classics with these really good covers . Other young singers like Angelina Jorden and Lucy Thomas, who's recently released a cover of the classic "Unchained Melody" are also following the classics path. I have absolutely nothing against Taylor Swift but there are so many Swift types following her trend it's all sounding very samie.
What's ridiculous is that Tori engineered this entire recording herself. She uses professional multitrack decks and professional sequencing software, and uses her ear to construct beautiful harmonies with her extremely beautiful voice. Utterly ridiculous just how brilliant and, at the same time, sweet she is. I mention the engineering chops because there are a lot of cover artists out there who sing, while some sing and play an instrument, but Tori has the chops to create the whole thing without the need of an engineer. She's amazing.
Oh boy A new Video! Carpenters Music is so timeless, It is great to see so many younger singers bringing this music to a new generation. Tori has a beautiful voice.
She could play the "karen carpenter card" way more, if she would. But she dont! It shows her responsibility and character as a musician. Never heard of her befor and I must admit I got teary eyed ( because of Karens fate)
I expect Jim to drop by shortly to give us the inside story of this video, and the Carpenter's weekend in Downey. Meanwhile, I see that Tori just 5 minutes ago dropped a cover of Summer Wine. I think I am going to get a little tipsy.
I neglected to fill you in. I was there, Jim was not. I was messaging Jim from the event especially when Richard showed up on the last night. Tori 100% produced this song. As noted at the end she used a clean piano track from Drew and re-recorded it all. Added the layers of her voice and engineered, edited it all. Credited the photographer and videographer at the end. I recorded and posted the raw live performance with something falling and people coughing. This is why she remade it. Yet, it’s Tori live for only the second time. It’s on my channel, so click through my ID and you’ll see it. The thumbnail is she and RC together. Joe
Maybe you remember the talented Angelina Jordan ?You reacted to quite a bit of her covers and her EP She just collaborated with Toby Gad the writer and producer and has a song Tobys releasing called If I were a Boy.Also an original written by her and Toby called Bad Valentine. This is her moment in time she has been waiting for .Please check it out.Thevr been working in LA
What a beautiful song. Well done Tori! I’m a big fan of hers. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

She sings it more clear than Dusty , I love hearing the lyrics

I have a request. Can you review Troubadour Project performing Tom Petty’s American Girl. I really like the female singer / guitar player.
@@bv7776 I’m currently not accepting requests until second week of August so I can get through the list I have. Check back with me then, thanks!
Wow... she sounds a lot like Karen!
Karen didn't sing this song, Dusty Springfield sang this with Richard Carpenter accompanying her on the piano and vocals.
You’re correct that’s why the videos entitled Richard Carpenter cover. 👍
Tori has a great voice, but I never liked the song no matter WHO sings it. At least Tori makes it tolerable to listen to.
