There was a point in the story where everything branches off and if you read each route from that point each still fit on their own. Everyone gets a win, no reader gets mad and depressed because their favorite girl didn’t win, and the story ends on a positive note with the author being able to have more space to explore each character and give them proper characterization.
Believe me, any photos of a girl found on a guy’s phone is going to get ‘em GRILLED if anybody sees it, no matter what amount of clothed they are or how much of them is shown(whole body, face, chest, or legs). I speak from first-hand experience.

Resolving the main girl’s arc slowly throughout the entire manga also helps make it more organic. it helps thin the herd since the other girls start getting less scenes as their arcs end. However most writers of both manga and light novels just can’t do it and try to cater to all, ending with a fan base that won’t accept any ending. I give it that making it a “choose your ending” situation is at least better than the traditional “protagonist never chooses” ending, but it is still a cheap way of pleasing all the fan base.
