- Ahh yes, finally we get to install the glass lens, its like the Ying Yang of PSP display upgrades, at least if you got an IPS. Installation process can range from super easy or near impossible, depending on what faceplate you are using. I show you all the different scenarios + do a stress test at the end.

Extra Notes:
- A sharp box cutter would come in handy to cleanup/trim the corners if the screen isnt fitting
- Using heat is useless, the plastics are melted together using a bonding agent (they dont use glue)
- Excess heat could warp the faceplate we dont want that.
- I found another 1000 Clear faceplate laying around and that one happened to crack open cleanly
- Yes thats Minecraft glass in the thumbnail

wow, the hammering test was impressive, I didn't expect it to be so durable
Keep in mind that he was bashing it while the front shell was free to flex and absorb the shock
The moment he flipped it and the glass was making contact with a hard surface, it broke at the first hit
I think you should expect it to behave similarly to that second example while mounted on a psp that's properly closed up
In that instance if it was fully installed, the LCD would probably shatter first before the outer glass does.
Thanks for delivering!
Thanks for interacting : )
Crazy that I just got my replacement a couple days ago and see this in my recommended lol
This is awesome. I have a blue PSP-2001 that has a bad screen glass on it (with a heavy scratch in one spot and micro scratches) so I have been looking to do something like this for awhile.
Just did one with the gloss atomic blue shell for the 1000... not my first time and patience is required. Looks immaculate! Took about 3 hrs. 😅 You get out of it what you put in, I think.
The video is very good, I have this mod on my 3000, and without a doubt it is very good, now I am preparing my 1000 to do this mod along with the IPS screen and PS Vita joystick.
Will you be able to do this on the psp 1000? The faceplate and screen window are the same part
@@aurelios69 You can do it, but not in the original shell, if it's a shell bought on Aliexpress for example, the lens is a separate piece from the shell, you can remove it and put this glass one in, but the original one can't, because it's a single piece. with the shell.
Been waiting for this one and you delivered!
I think I'll end up doing the project smokey faceplate (if I can find it), glass lens upgrade, IPS screen and PSVita joystick. Maybe even throw in a new battery. I was gonna repaint the grey frame and triggers but seems like too much work to disassemble the PSP for just an aesthetic upgrade, maybe I'll leave that for the future. Thanks again for this video series!
BTW I swear to god I had a dream last night where I was given a PSVita but it looked like a fischer price toy, had a flip out screen and was big and bulky painted red and yellow. I remember thinking in my dream "wow my PSP 1000 is so much nicer than this" LOL
LOL
The modding community for the PSP is so nice, i wish there were more mods for the 3DS!
Perhaps once im done with the PSP i may
i've recently upgraded the battery on my old psp to a lipo 4000mah , the original battery was close to 20 years old😂
I want to keep the outside looking as original as possible, but watching this series has made me want to pull the trigger on a eBay psp to make it the ultimate modded psp.
Great production man, thanks for your insights 🫡🫡
I have been wanting to do this for 15 years, Im finally doing it, trying to go through all the possible PSP mods xD
Man, your videos are so awesome. Just bought myself a second PSP1000 from used market and will try to update it with an IPS Screen and a new shell! (Not sure if I’m bold enough to try for this glass mod)
For begginers who dont want to get too deep into it I would only recommend it on Matt finish clear PSP 1000 faceplates, but then they already come with a quality lens
Interesting video.
cool bro, a tip is to paint the sides of the screen protection, on the transparent casings, where the glue marks appear 👍🏼 👏🏼
True, that's also an option
Support again for psp content ❤
Merci : )
16 seconds ago is crazy
Hey thank you so much for this, I have a clear shell and want to mod it with glass and an IPS screen
Im going to do it but be very patient
This vid gave me anxiety 😅😂😭, the mod looks fun.... However it looks difficult to do..... Maybe the manufacturer can make a faceplate without the stock lens?
Would be nice to have so.e tutorials for the psvita. Mine is a mess and needs fixing up internals parts as well
I plan to get into Vita stuff once Im done with my big list of PSP mods lol
What issues does yours have?
nice
Bro Where get psp street e1000 ' s lens Glass.. please help me.!
The rage removal
I bought a second handed 3000 model as a kid and the shell wasn't the official one, it got super disgusting without me even dropping it. Paint chips, scratches everywhere...
I replaced the whole shell and in the process I bought this crystal replacement as a "crystal screen protector". I completely forgot about it, I've been playing on that psp nonstop to the point of literally ignoring that crystal protector. Now this video appears on my FYP actually showing me how wrong I was about it being a screen protector HAHAHHAHA
lol
What’s the best way to clean up glue off the glass from the front ? 😅
Isopropyl & A disposable Microfiber or good quality tissue, you can even just rub it away with your fingers when its dry : )
Lets say I didn't want to replace the official shell for my PSP-1000, could i still replace the lens? Maybe by carving it out or how do you think I should go about that?
I would not recommend going down that path, it will never look perfect unless you got some serious CnC tools lol
But I would love to see the result if you do end up doing it
Bro. I have a PSP Street E1000 . I need it's glass, can you tell me from where you bought this..? or can you send me link to buy this one.!
I just got the E1004 and the screen is pretty scuffed up and has scratches, I just wanted to confirm if I just remove the glass lens like you mentioned in the video and just use the PSP without it will it be safe to do so and won't further damage the screen given that I don't poke or touch the bare screen.
At least for my specific E1000, it came out pretty easily and can go back in easily even without glue.
So you can easily figure out if it fits once you place the glass lens in for a fit check
Which 1000 metallic blue faceplate would you recommend to match the factory color?
As far as what I know, they are all mostly the same, as in coming from the same aftermarket factory, so whichever one you find is your best option whether it fits the color exactly or not, even if it doesn't it will be alright as it will give a 2 tone look of some sort, and of course quality will be low, and if you have original buttons it would be best to use as always.
Who else saw minecraft glass?
Ive no got the two new shells for my PSP 1000 and PSP 3000. The Lens on the 1000 shell was nearly impossible to get off i f up and ordered a new faceplate by now. The 3000 lens was very easy and ive got the glass lens now. But i still have some issues with the shell on the 3000 on the top usb section its not closed properly there is like a gap. And the Square button always gets stuck i pressed a few times because the Hole on the shell is too big is there a fix?
If you have discord, you can share some pics and I can guide you
@@TotalKommandomy comment always gets deleted.. name on that is zazzcode
YO where should I get PSP shells from? Specifically the 3000 ones, apparently Amazon is an insanely bad choice
I bought around 20 shells to talk about it in a future video, and all I can say is that the quality is hit or miss depending on what color / finish you get.
I get mine all from AliExpress, if you want tell me what color you are looking for, and I can send you a link to one I purchased from if it matches the desctiption.
@@TotalKommandoCan you link me a White and a Clear Dark Blue one for the PSP 1000 model? I need a good one but im not sure which one to buy off from aliexpress. It should be shipped to Germany.
@@zazzcode369 I got a the clear blue one from here: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DETFf4H
its similar quality to the project smokey matt black psp.
As for the white one, I think the only ones out there are very low quality.
@@TotalKommando I wanted a White one with Black Buttons so badly... Okay then i will Stick with the Blue one i guess thank you.
@@zazzcode369 You could just get a white faceplate, if you really want full good quality body, then you need to find a decent condition OG white PSP then add black buttons and a new faceplate.
About the glass did the mod in less than a minute, just bought a brand new replacement shell for my PSP the plastic screen popped off and didn't leave any glue at all😂
Epic Lens Swap Moment
Have you tried goo gone? Or carefully using acetone?
Its basically welded plastic, its not coming off, acetone is the worse possible product to use, it will damage your pain if not warp and melt things
Goo Gone is for glue, there is no glue when its welded with a bonding agent that melts the plastics together
Did you try a hair dryer on any of theses lenses? I have not tried taking one of these off but hair dryers often hit that sweet spot of enough heat but not to much when doing this type of project. Unlike a beast like a heat gun or hot air station those will just straight up give you a very bad day.
I did try that, but the super tough ones are basically almost like they were melt bonded using a special agent.
Didn't do much in the end
@TotalKommando odds are if it looked like it you're probably correct. Either melted via heat or a melting caused by the glue itself.
@@brianwalker7771 Plastic Bonding Agents or whatever its called
@TotalKommando not really my knowledge base, but I'm guessing the way they bond is that they melt the plastic together via a chemical reaction. Sounds like a solid idea if you never want it to fall off but a royal pain if you're trying to change a piece like you were. Looks like patience is the key for this project.
@@brianwalker7771 100%
Why u dont try to heat the plate/glue?
Great question,
Reason is the glue they use, isnt really glue, its a plastic bonding agent, that melts the plastics together into one compontent forming a super strong bond.
Too much heat could possibly warp the faceplate making it not sit properly.
Heat would help but only a little bit, not enough to have a clean easy removal for the super hard ones :/
@@TotalKommando iv got smth like 7psp's and 4 glass screens to assamble, i will check that. Still, if heat this plastic screen (a bit) from inside, should be easier in my opinion. Anyway, good vidss. I'm still wating on vid with battery content, becouse i do the same :D So, iv got M7 battery charger (i made my own charging cabels), FNB58 and many (around 20, and duble in transit from Aliex..) fake and orginal batteries. Cheers!
Put playback speed to 0.75x Thank me later
Or you could of just done it easy way used heat gun that would of made it lot easier to pop screens out.
That adds a high risk of warping the faceplate, I tried it with a hairdryer and it didnt make that much of a difference unless I really cook it. They use a bonding agent that melts the plastics together.
Why are you not using heat. I would use a small amount of heat like a hair dryer to soften the glue then use your method. But I’m no expert so I guess you already tried that.
They didnt use glue, instead some type of bonding agent that melts the plastics together forming a solid bond. I tried hot hair dryer heat and it did not budge with some of the clear shells. If I were to use a heatgun it would eventually warp the faceplate so that wasnt an option.
It may help slightly with some of the other easier ones thats for sure.
