Living with a man advice, don’t sweat the small stuff or it will not work out ❤ it’s hard work but if you just coexist it’s literally the best. Always having a buddy to wake up, eat with… etc is priceless
Idk why this video made me so emotional 😭 You don’t know me yet I feel like you are my friend and I watch as you grow, make life choices, take another steps, learn life lessons. I’m so proud of you 🥲🥲🥲 hugs and kisses from some random girl from europe xx
Agh you guys are so cute. Won’t lie- thought it was another announcement lol- but this is amazing!! Very happy for you both. Jack is such a sweetheart. Happy New Year!
I don’t know how you and Jack plan to do things financially, but I recommend getting a joint checking account. You both keep your individual accounts and with the joint checking account, you each contribute to it to pay for all shared expenses (rent, groceries, utilities, etc.). This is what my boyfriend and I have been doing for 2 and a half years and it’s great! This prevents you from having to Venmo each other all the time or try to keep track of who paid for what.
Yes! Totally agree with this! Question though, how much do you both contribute to the account? Is it a set amount divided equally? Like each week, you both put in $100?
@@loomonda18 We just add as we need to typically. We do a 60/40 split (his idea because he makes more money than me, so this is equal percentages of our income). We put in $1000 total at a time ($600 him, $400 me) or sometimes we’ll do $500 total ($300 him, $200 me). We both watch the expenses, so whenever we see we need to add more, we do. This is what has worked for us. 😊

Living with someone you love is a gift…put each other first, listen to each other, and laugh everyday! I’ve been married for many years,,,,it’s not always easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing! Enjoy everything this new chapter has to offer! I will be cheering you on!!! ❤
Congrats! Living together before engagement is so so amazing. I just got married 3 weeks ago after living together for 2 years and it was such an easy transition. You will love it!!
it’s crazy how much our lives are synced-my boyfriend and i met (on hinge) around the same time you and jack did, and i’m moving in with him next month! congrats katy! 💞
SO happy for you guys!!!! Love you and Jack together :) You guys will love this point of your lives and best of luck for finding a great new place together
Katy! I've followed you since you were making videos in high school. Tell me why I was sweaaating waiting for the update during the video lol. Clearly I'm invested! So thrilled for you and this next chapter ❤
Like someone mentioned below getting a joint account is the best way to share expenses. One of the core arguments can be finances we tend to pay attention to spending a bit more. Even buying furniture, home items, food, it is not just one person's responsibility, it's a team. You will also find yourself needing alone time. Most of my friends who moved in with their Boyfriends/fiancés including myself have had ran into arguments surrounding these topics.
Been quietly rooting for you as a couple and as individuals for a while now and so happy for you!! I’ve lived with my bf for 1.5 years and it is the best! Be upfront about things that are bothering you (my bf was bad about leaving socks everywhere..WHY!) and always think as a unit, it will go great and help you for the (hopefully) near future!❤
I’m watching this with my mother in law, my husband and my 2 kids and we are all so happy for you!!!!! Love you so much and I’m so glad this love has found you!
You will fight. Embrace it because it is normal to have conflict between 2 different people from different cultures. So excited for you and Jack in this next chapter❤

Katy & Jack Congratulations on this new big step. Wishing you all the best as you start this next chapter together.❤ Julia & Tracy My mum loves you guys!🥰
living with man advice it isn’t hard!! haha people always told me living with a partner gets hard blah blah it doesn’t if yall are a good team and it really seems like you and jack are… congrats… living with my partner has been the absolute best year!
Watching Jack just simply be Jack reminds me of watching a movie... like a Jude Law vibe. It's so sweet and delicate and warm. What a fun time in your life. Enjoy, babe.
Excited for the new apartment content! You mention Dry January multiple times in the vlog and getting through it as if it’s going to be really difficult to not drink for the duration of a month. I get socially that may be the case, and I think it’s important to normalize not drinking - I recognize you were probably joking but it’s something I picked up on.
I get where you’re coming from but we could make similar comments about going vegan for a month or cutting out sugar and the same sentiment that you’ve expressed wouldn’t be applicable. It’s important to normalize that people struggle with giving anything up that is part of their daily life.
@hapamal I hear your point, with one respectful pushback: alcohol being a daily (or close to daily) consumption for a person feels different to me than sugar or meat being a daily/routine vice.
Thanks so much for this feedback! I am sorry - I did not realize these 'jokes' / over-exaggerations would concern you all - and so I will definitely use my words more carefully in future vlogs. It truly is not difficult for me to give up alcohol. Living in a big city and being in my 20's, social drinking is extremely normalized and these environments (bars, tastings, parties) certainly can be difficult to avoid at times, but it is extremely doable and I will not actually struggle. Thank you for the concern and your kind wording in letting me know. XO Katy
Aww you’re moving in together!!! I’ve also been on kind of a similar trajectory as you - met my bf in September of 2023 and we will be living together eventually!
I haven’t seen your videos pop up on my feed in a long time so I had to just look it up even though I’m subscribed but I just love your videos and they have such a positive cozy calm feel. Love you ❤
❤❤❤ my favorite thing is living w my partner and we lived in his house for a year and when I tell you the shift of us moving to new house and finding and building a home was amazing it’s so much fun! We’re 3 years in living together and I don’t remember living separate
Yay I guessed right and I’m excited for this new journey for you two!! I always love your moving content Katy. This will be apartment #5? I hope you guys find the perfect space
My favorite part of this video is you saying “can you hold this while I talk about it” regarding the Dutch oven and Jack standing there modeling it for us 🤣 he’s a good man Savannah
I guessed that you two would be living together. Jack is awesome and great in the vlogs. I hope you two find a perfect apartment and Happy New Year 🎊. Peace 🕊️
Don't listen to the unsolicited advice (judgement) about drinking - you don't need to "revisit your relationship with alcohol". You're FINE, girl lol. Happy New Year!!!
my word of the year is discipline. I have overall health goals and i am trying to do 75 soft but in a way that will create lifelong habits rather than 75 days of hardcore routine which would make me less motivated to complete.
Why are people being weird about the drinking comments when moving in together? It’s quite clearly a joke 😅 congrats guys how exciting a new chapter! ❤
Happy New Year! Congrats on the moving in together! I followed you since ombré hair tutorial days - ahh nostalgia! I know you’ve lived in lower Manhattan for a long time, curious why Upper West Side? I’m in Brooklyn, looking to move this year too so considering different neighborhoods!
I’ve been living with my fiance for nearly 5 years and I know a lot of people struggle to live with a partner, but we’ve honestly never had an issue. He’s my best friend, and our home is my favourite place on earth. From what we see of your relationship, I feel like living together will only make you two grow stronger. Congrats on having 2 keys, Jack! 😂
They were joking, saying that they’re doing Dry Jan while trying to adjust to living together, so don’t have the opportunity to enjoy a drink to take the edge off when there’s a little conflict (which there will be and that’s normal)!! Just wanted to share how I comprehended that part 🫶
Yes!! Omg I know I've failed with rice too. For this one you put the wild rice (1 cup is what I do) in with everything. I cook on low for 6 hours and it cooks great.
Wait I’m actually so surprised you’re open to upper west side. I thought you’d be married to west village for your entire NYC career 😮 UWS is severely underrated
I mean this with so much love, but some of the dry jan comments are a bit concerning. Possibly a moment to reflect on your relationship with alcohol? Truly no judgement, just a thought.
Katy’s Dry Jan jokes wouldn’t have been overly concerning to me in a vacuum, but considering her many, many alcohol-related stories on the Match Made podcast (including the blackout story from the most recent episode), I also felt concerned watching this. As a long-term watcher and podcast listener of hers, I’ve wanted to comment something for quite a while, but I’m always worried it’ll get interpreted the wrong way (because Katy does unfortunately get her fair share of unnecessarily mean comments). And it’s not like I’m her doctor or anything. But given all these comments, and since I don’t have a way to private message her, I’ll just get over my anxiety and say it now: as a genuine fan of Katy’s, I am worried about her unhealthy relationship with alcohol. It seems like her loved ones may be enabling her. Katy, if you’re reading this and other comments on this video, we’re truly saying this because we care as your viewers, not because we’re jealous and trying to make you feel bad about yourself. I’m less concerned right now about you being a good or bad role model to your viewers/listeners, and more concerned about the impacts of alcohol on your own physical and mental health.
Thank you for the concern! I'm realizing that I need to be more careful about how I speak about alcohol online. I luckily have no problem cutting out alcohol and I am not dependent on it. I simply made some light jokes / comments to be funny that clearly didn't land so I will refrain from speaking about it on here. I realize jokes about alcohol can be sensitive to many so I will keep that in mind moving forward. XO Katy
