  • The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Pakyong organised a District Kisan Mela cum farmers scientists interaction at the Rurban complex.
    Mr Tashi Chophel Lepcha, DC Pakyong, graced the event as the chief guest, along with Mr Mandeep Rai Zilla Panchayat.
    Ms Rebecca Gurung, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department,outlined the objectives of the scheme, designed to give progressive farmers a platform to exhibit their agricultural products and commodities, increasing their visibility and investigating potential market connections. She offered insightful explanations of ATMA's function in advancing farmer welfare as well as useful details regarding its various components.
    Additionally, Ms Gauri Mukhia, Assistant Director, Directorate of Fisheries, highligthted the fish farming process and production. She shed light on various schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Mukhya Mantri Matsya Utapadhan Yojana (MMMUY), and other Fisheries schemes in the state.
    Ms Mukhia also emphasised the importance of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and encouraged beneficiaries to take advantage of its benefits. This will foster further growth in farming and inspire potential farmers.
    Dr Anjala Pradhan, Additional Director AH&VS, emphasised the benefits of various schemes under AH&VS, such as the Pig Production Incentive Scheme (PPIS) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC). She urged eligible farmers to make the most of these schemes, enabling them to reap the benefits. Dr Pradhan also advocated for increased farmer participation in farming activities, underscoring the importance of schemes like KCC. Moreover, she shared a toll-free number, 1962, for emergencies related to cattle, particularly in areas lacking dispensary services.
    Mr Tshering Chophel Bhutia, Additional Director,Agriculture and Horticulture Department, in his address, elaborated on the essential roles of ATMA in ensuring the welfare of progressive farmers. He highlighted ATMA's active involvement in agricultural activities geared towards sustainable development in the district.
    Mr Bhutia also encouraged farmers to adopt progressive farming practices.
    The program included a felicitation ceremony, where the contributions of staff, farmers, and field functionaries were honored through the distribution of appreciation letters.
    The Kisan Mela also showcased stalls featuring various organic products presented by self-help groups.
