problem with 747 is, it's too big, and must land on airport with long enough runway, which may not be near where the fire burns. and also, that airpot must be equiped with water reservoir or something similar that can quickly refill the tanker. how many airport has such facilities ? and if the wind is too strong, it can't be used, it may be able to fly above the Santa Anna winds, but not take off or land.
there's a whole lot of idiocy on TH-cam, but this has to take the cake. 1) A new 747 is over $300M. second hand working 747-200 is $20M plus refitting for task.
