Nick, I love your videos! Talk about memories! I grew up on 12th Street around the corner from where you lived. I was friends with your sister, Connie. However, I knew your other 2 sisters and your Mom and Dad very well. Can still remember going to your house because I played with Connie, Tisha, Roe, etc. Your Mom and Dad were gold. Loved them dearly. Then, the big news was your Mom was expecting her 4th child. After 3 girls, your parents were hoping for a boy. Well, we know they got their boy - you! I remember the day your parents brought you home from the hospital. I think it was a Sunday. All the neighbors were waiting outside for your parents to bring you home. I was there. I remember. All the neighbors were hovered around you like they had never seen a baby before. It was a beautiful moment. Nick, as you know, that was 55 years ago, and I can still remember that day like it was yesterday. I also remember how cute you were as the ring bearer at Connie's wedding. Again, I was there, and I was a bridesmaid. These are beautiful moments that we treasure from our South Philly days. Thank you, Nick, for reminding us of the wonderful memories that we had in South Philly. I loved hearing about buying water ice at Joe Abbate's and dipping our pretzel sticks in the water ice! I loved hearing "fresh pretzels." I remember hearing that every day. Your impression was spot on! These are moments that we may have forgotten through the years, but thanks to you, Nick, we get to remember those cherished times. Thank you. Joanne. 👍👍👏👏

@NicklancianoVlog Hi Nick, good to hear from you! I am doing well. I got married and lived in NE Philly for 31 years, and then moved to DE in 2010. It took me a long time to get used to NE Philly and an even longer time to get used to suburban living, but I am used to it now. However, Nick, when I meet people and they asked me where I grew up, I always with all my heart and soul say "South Philly." South Philly is in my blood and will never leave me no matter where I live. Funny story - my daughter said to me about 12 years ago that I might want to say that I am from NE Philly since I lived there longer than I did in South Philly. So, I started to talk to this woman who I met when we were picking up the grandkids from school. We would see each other several times a week. She asked me one day where I was from, and I said NE Philly. Her response to me was I would have figured South Philly by your accent and your Italian hands that don't stop moving! She nearly fell over when I told her I was actually from South Philly! She was from South Philly also. Go figure, Nick! You can take me out of South Philly, but you will never take South Philly out of me....Again, Nick, thank you so much for keeping our South Philly memories alive because of your videos. You are the best! Joanne

I remember Joseph Pistone AKA Donny Brasco , he brought theat Philly slang " Cuz " up here in Greenpoint. The crew never noticed he was the only one wearing " white socks " like all under cover cops did. He was the only one who cauld run a couple of blocks without keeling over.

Back in 86-87 living on a barge in the Navy, I made the best of my time in South Philly. Back 1980 seen The Rolling Stones Kennedy stadium, 3 Hoagies for $3.00 . I remember coming back from Brooklyn over the weekend, Monday morning to report for Duty, driving south 611, I think Broad Street I forgot. The news paper would tumble all around like tumble weeds, we used to call the City Filthadelphia. I use to call the prostitutes over to my car knowing they where under cover police for directions wasting there time, in front of the Opera house. I remember getting a White Pizza at a bakery on the soothsaid only on Fridays only. Also a Pretzel factory 5 or 6 for a dollar. Keep it going Nick.

Hey Nicky, you should bust out some old VHS home videos of Philly in the 70's and 80's if you have them. You'd get TONS of views! People love nostalgia, especially when it's captured on video.

Also you should do a food walking tour of South Philly sometime to promote your channel and the old school businesses, though I'm sure they don't need the extra business but it would be nice to go with someone that not only knows the true authentic old school south Philly spots

I love south Philly but the changes has really put me in a weird spot because its like we do not have a home we grow up in anymore. You feel where I am coming from. No McDonalds on broad and Washington Ave , no more pizza hut on Oregon Ave. A lot has changed but I guess its all for the better.

What are your thoughts about the new social club restaurants? They are a tradition is it not? And which ones are the best? Any advice to get a membership?

@@NicklancianoVlog thank you. Being from New Orleans and seeing how it's changed so much due to gentrification, which it is what it is, I appreciate people like you who have continued to stay and guide us with the history of the community. Thanks again and another great video

Random are the Italian and Irish Catholic churches in the same parish or is there one for each ethnic group, presently and in the past?
Actually do/did the Italian and Irish get along or was there beef?
In new Orleans they didn't really mix. The Irish were uptown the Italians were in the 9th Ward and in Da Parish

Back in the day, there were Irish and Italian hoods. I guess for the most part there still are but South Philly has changed so much that it's becoming more intertwined. A beef? Back in the day. Yeah. Not so much anymore.
