You've certainly opened my eyes to these little railways this summer Kris. I've enjoyed every minute of your time filming them. Each has its own charm for me to pick a favourite. Nice one .....Tim.
@roypembroke cheers mate =) They've certainly got a good selection of railways. It was a shame the top of Snowdon was covered in cloud when we got there, maybe get a clear run next time.
What happened to Dolbadarn's old whistle, I remember when she was yellow she had a far more distinctive whistle and I always thought it was a very nice sound, the whistle she has now is ok but there are lots of other locomotives with a very similar sound. If anybody knows what happened to her old whistle please let me know, cheers.
I think the glorious, shrill, heart attack inducing chime whistle Dolbadarn was previously fitted with, as can be heard in this video th-cam.com/video/M2KiA-bW-3A/w-d-xo.html was privately owned, but I stand to be corrected if anybody else has further info. Thomas Bach also used to have a nice deep two-tone hooter, both very distinctive and the echo they both made as the sound bounced off the mountains was incredible! I miss both, I wonder if the Lake Railway was forced to tone them down. Fond memories.
