I saw this show at the Bayfront Center in Saint Petersburg Florida. I never missed a Tull concert, in 44 tours Beginning in 1972 with, "Thick as a Brick". They were the best there ever was, and the best there ever will be. If you didn't see one of those early 1970s shows, you will never know How great this band really was. There is no film, or video that will ever do them Justice. You can kind of get the feel of what a showman Ian Anderson was but that's about as close as you'll ever know. Even Ian Anderson himself cannot reproduce one of those shows today. The closest you will find is the Martin Barre Band. I'm sure most of you know that he was the guitar player for Jethro Tull for 43 years. Whatever you do don't miss Martin Barre's band, and concert. You don't get Ian, but you get just about everything else. I just saw them January 13th In Largo Florida. I was blown away. I'm serious when I tell you, If you're a fan of Tull you must go see this band.
@Jeffrey Nolan I would say that we are definitely brothers in Tull. I don't know if you've seen the real good news this morning, but Jethro Tull's new album made the top 10 in the UK. It's number 9, and it's number 4 in Germany. I said somewhere on TH-cam once that I believe that Jethro Tull fans are a Family, and Ian Anderson is like our grandfather. because I debate with a lot of people about Ian's voice, and how they say they wouldn't go to a concert because of his voice, and I say I don't care if he has to sing in sign language I'm gonna be there, Because I believe Jethro Tull is the greatest band of all time period. Of course I wish he sounded like he did in the old days, but he got old just like I did. But I will tell you that this new album is so good I believe it's a testimony to the genius of Ian Anderson He wrote a. An album of songs That are suited to his voice I don't know if you heard it or not I'm sure you probably have but I think the album is fantastic fantastic in fact I think it's probably in his top 10 albums. I hope they tour the US again soon because I can't wait to see them again then I just saw Martin barre's band. And they were fantastic It was almost like seeing Jethro toll and maybe 1969 or 70 Such a great concert I couldn't hardly believe it. Anyway maybe we'll run into each other at a Tull concert someday. I know I'll be going I'm pretty sure you will be too.
I too saw all the Tull tours from 1971 through 1979 and many shows in later years. 1972 TAAB was the best, but this Warchild show is right up there. Although video could never capture the magic of being there, imagine if one of their early 70s concerts had somehow been filmed with today's equipment, multiple 4K cameras and hi-res multi-track audio. People would be stunned. No other band I've seen - and I saw a lot over many years - could put on a performance that was even close to Tull's, they were in a class of their own. I'm stunned just watching this patchy chopped-up black and white film.
Even with this scratchy old school quality audio and film you can see and hear just how incredible they were live at this time. They were truly at the peak of their powers. Nobody could touch them live at this time. NOBODY. To see Martin, Jeffrey and John Evan just flailing around while playing this very complex music is astonishing. For Ian of course there are no words. So grateful I got to see them 5 times from 71-76. Thanks for posting!
I had the pleasure of seeing two out of the four November `74 London Rainbow shows. Spectacular. The five piece band were in tip top form and the addition of the pink wig wearing female string quartet helped to enhance the material from `War Child` Watch out for a brief glimpse of Shona Leroyd in this footage. The `black satin dancer` would go onto be Mrs Anderson in 1976.
One juici story:Ian said in one interview he made love with Shona for the first time in Zagreb (former Yugoslavia, now Croatia) 25th of April 75. night after concert. I was 19 and this was my first Jethro Tull concert.Unforgetable! I saw them 5 more times during next 25 years, but this Warchild tour remains unsurpassed!
Fantastic footage, warts and all, which in no way detract from the overall mind-blowing effect of getting the unique opportunity to view this historic rarity. I had the pleasure of seeing two shows on this '75 tour ... Tull at their performing best. Thank you very much, Jethro Tull Collection.
Saw this tour Hampton Roads Coliseum after our car broke down on a busy Interstate highway and the three of us crammed into a VW Beetle with a kind lady and all her luggage who mercifully stopped for us. Oh yeah, and the show was great. Thanks Linda for my 16th birthday present 💝
Fantastic to see this. I've wanted to see video of Jeffrey Hammond live for years, and here it is. He really seems to up the game live. He coaxes big performances out of everyone. Every time I've seen Martin (Songs From The Wood onwards) he's been a 'stand there and play' sort of guitarist. Nothing wrong with that, but he's really animated here. Love it!
I saw them in April 75 (same tour) and they opened with this riff from "Wind Up".Martin and Jeffrey literally fly/jump in on stage using some kind of spring-boards!

Yes Tull in 1972-73 were at their pinnacle

I was there at the Rock Island concert and I proudly wore my pin out the other day.
Holy crap (literally).
This film actually captures Jeffrey juggling the Zebra sh*t.
Thank you!!!!
You are welcome
Love this footage… even all the scratches and bubbles.
Saw War Child tour at Madison Square Garden. Great to see Ian in action.
This is awesome video and sound! Wish the entire concert was available as the 1975 Warchild tour was probably the best of live Tull.

Cool you were there

Transition into critical oblique was badass.
Wonderful. All the low quality vid damage actually adds by subtraction

You are very welcome 🙏
Hearing Martin playing here is a WOW-moment, he could play sooo fast!
Wow. Never thought I’d see actual footage of Jeffrey juggling Zebra dung. Ha ha.
👍❤👍Thanks
The good ol days
Jeffrey and the Zebra pooting tennis balls! Never saw this on film before!

Great story

Love it!
Yes Jeffrey really was a great showman and Martin followed suit
I saw them in April 75 (same tour) and they opened with this riff from "Wind Up".Martin and Jeffrey literally fly/jump in on stage using some kind of spring-boards!
Anderson ... unbeatable frontman !!! & Great recovery footage !!!
Yes the absolute best
Aw man! Love how they went from Wind Up to the rockin passage from APP!
Yes a loud beautiful opening sings
Thanks Awesome to see this!!
Glad you liked it!
Ian is in great voice at this show. ❤️
Audio quality: perfect
Video quality: film from 1908 that was found in a damp cave 🤔
Sounds about right
More or less the same lineup, and the same time, as the Paris (Palais des Sportes) concert, where unfortunately the video recordings were lost...
Yes, only 4 months apart
Looks like 1875.
Ha ha
Name one other band.... go ahead and try...
