Now in my 50's, I,ve grown up with, and loved, Corrie through the years. You've been part of my life, my late parents lives, my late grandparents lives. Now my grandson watches with us. What a testament to great British Television. Love and thanks to all.
Hilda Ogden..every word was pure poetry..they don't write lines like that now..and even if they did..there isn't anyone like her to say them..and there never will be..Jean Alexander was amazing as Hilda Ogden.. a Corrie Legend!
Bravo, Jean Alexander! An actress of rare ability and, despite years of the same character, versatility. You and Bernard Youens were two of the greats.
Hilda was the greatest iconic character of British soap. No character had ever come near. Jean Alexander was a superb actress. Totally different to the character she created. Hilda is coronation street and it’s success is owed to Jean x
In Hilda's last scene in the Rovers, so many of the old favourites have passed away now - Hilda, Vera, Jack, Percy, Phyllis, Mike and Deirdre. God bless and RIP gang.
As a nation we laughed & cried with Jean Alexander's wonderful creation Hilda. We have lost one of the true greats of television. It is little wonder that Laurence Olivier was one of her great admirers.
Jean Alexander was simply sublime as Hilda Ogden and her relationship with Stan was absolutely brilliant. She was constantly cutting him down but she loved him deep down.
Has anyone noticed the theme of specs after someone's death - first the old lady who died in the pub in the 60s, then Stan in the 80s, Alf in the 90s, Deirdre in the 2010s.
Proper Corrie, not the rubbish they make today with serial killers, wannabe gangsters, affairs, explosions, bloodshed and gobby obnoxious youngsters. The show went downhill rapidly when Brian Park took over.

Nothing is more riveting than the ordinary adventures of ordinary people.

Coronation Street was great when Hilda graced the cobbles
The saddest scene was the passing of her dearly beloved Stan
Rest in Peace Jean

Her coat and hat matches the door!! 🤣😂

Same I used to watch corrie religiously and I couldn't bare to see it now its so crap. Its even worse than eastenders now and that's saying something
Class actress... a to z
R.I.P. Hilda
This is when I watched it don't now
Loved Elsie and Ena
brilliant!
Hilda and Elsie ⚡⚡😂😂⚡⚡
This is the real coronation street not like the rubbish it is now..shame as it was so funny,Stan hilda were my favs,RIP Jean
If she was jealous and didn’t like Elsie, why did she even talk to her at all??!! 🤣😂
Thora's wrong - Hilda and Stan's marriage wasn't the longest on the Street - they were married for 41 years - but Vera and Jack were married for 50!
So if he never worked steady, where did they get the money for their rent, ect.??! 🤣😂
If Betty Driver wasn't Betty Reckon Thora hird could been a good Betty turpin 😢
What is a “glass back”??
I don't know - but Jack also had one - or at least he said he did!
Did we ever find out what Stan actually died of?
When corrie was good
