It just occurred to me, nicole’s character actually reminds me alot of “lady sharrow” from Iain banks against a dark background. Its like she seems like a simple sociopath or just a massive cunt until you dig deeper and it kinda seems like both are really nihilistic instead of psychopathic, its like “nothing really matters” vibes so whatever, not like life matters

Honestly I feel like part of the author’s intent may have been to make it more explicit that yes, Nicole IS a terrible person. Since even with this game, some people are still jumping through hoops to justify her behavior.

Nicole is how you write an over-the-top angsty teenager while still keeping her realistic. She's a massive piece of shit and her sense of morality is nonexistent, yet I can't help but feel bad for her in some instances. I wanted her to see the error in her ways and change for the better. But in some of her bad endings I found myself saying "That's what the fuck you get." There hasn't been a character that has left me so conflicted.
Jecka did give her a reality check in the jail ending when she sees that Nicole is still using an excuse for a much more severe punishment. That and combined with the abusive relationship ending, Jecka is literally nothing like her and knows whats the right thing to do or just generally has better morals than her
yeah, the only endings in which nicole got fucked over hard for no reason is in the "ARSON HATE CRIME" ending, like, Ari destroyed Nicole's reputation for almost nothing but in the end it wasn't thaaaat awful for nicole@@hyperlink463
I love Nicole as a character, and the game as a whole for the same reasons. A lot of people say this game feels real and thats because it has nuggets of truth to it. The characters are exaggerated, but we've all had the creepy teacher, the authority figures that don't care, the pushy boys who treat you like a s3x toy than an actual human, and have seen sewicidal depression, r4cism, h0nophobia, dr00g addiction and ED (censoring so yt doesnt delete my comment). Nicole points out all of this but the game makes it clear that shes not a good person. A lot of her arguements don't come from good faith and she's a major hypocrite (she's anti-asian, abl3ist, she doesn't understand the privilege she has as a white person or a straight person so she sees nothing wrong with force outting someone and manipulating them) and she never takes responsibility for her actions. Same can be said for a lot of the characters too. Jecka calls out Nicole in the last ending, but can easily be pressuaded to become a yt nat1onal!st and is just as bigoted as Nicole. Ari is an insecure lesbian, but she's possessive and acts just like the boys when she's given a "no". The emt, one of the few male characters who isnt a predator cares more about his Big Gulp cup than a human life. None of its based on their identities, its based off the fact that they are all terrible people.
Nicole's the most accurate depiction of a femcel in fiction. Femcels aren't exactly equal to incels. They both have a hatred for the opposite sex, but incels hatred is based on nonexistent oppression and the actual acts of misandry (like men not being allowed to cry or show emotions) are highly exaggerated and solely blamed on women. Femcels have a greater reason to distrust men due to the patriarchy, but still use that as a justification to throw anyone under the bus, man or woman, to get their way and blame someone else for their problems and continue wallowing in self pity.
she's a teenager, the joke of the game is that she's awful because everyone around her is awful and she's not self-aware/personally accountable enough to be able to handle that correctly, nor would she be able to be. I do legit feel bad for her and her social circle - not necessarily because of anything she's personally done, but because she obviously needs help and there's nobody that actually gets it.
On some level that's why the stories hold appeal, IMO - because for all the "you just don't get it, mom!" there really were times back in High School where you ended up completely depowered and the people rendering you that way were either actively abusive or didn't give a shit. The first episode is about stealing because they haven't been given the opportunity to earn money, while avoiding a place they hate and being surrounded by people they hate. The cop is just the shitty icing on the cake.

The whole segway into "Nicole, what're you doing?" felt off, the only part of the game I really didn't like
Well, to be fair, Nicole and her brother are getting a trickle of money from the trust fund to afford the house. No longer being disciplined probably feels like an improvement to her after the initial shock.
Even though Jecka engages in bullying and drug use, she comes off as a nice girl compared to the extremely apathetic Nicole.
Nicole is to Jecka what Emily is to Nicole.

That was one of my favorite endings. I'm not sure why, it's definitely not a good thing or anything, Megan didn't deserve that, but seeing what Nicole is capable of in that sort of way was interesting? And entertaining.

Holy… FUCK. This re-contextualizes that entire plotline. I feel so bad for her now :( she was dealing with this repression along with all her other issues. Also I think they were far apart on the floor which makes me sad her morbid wish didn’t come true.
I think she felt like she had to let Emily die. Emily gets aggressive over the tiniest things and can snap like crazy at any sudden second. She's insane and if she ever found out that Nicole botched the OD then she'd do way more to her than just slit her tires...
This ending fucked me up, because I felt bad for Emily and that she had an abusive environment with her family, and the lack of support, lead to her lashing out severely, I know Nicole isn’t sad about it, tho it’s inspired by the real world, in which we ignore lashing out and write it off as insignificant and not a major cry for help.
Taking out Emily is one of the few good things Nicole did. Emiliy was going to crush and burn either way, so all anyone could do was not to get caught up in it.

Class of 09 is literally such a mix of emotions. Like it's so funny and hilarious but it has like a depressing twist to it. It's so well developed too. The voice acting, the creativity in general. I love this game so much.

I love how Nicole gets genuinely pissed for a moment when she learns how Jecka treated Karen. Not enough to actually do anything about it, of course, but it's always interesting to see Nicole's mask of sociopathy slip and watch her actually feel something for a few minutes.

After watching how Nicole speaks to and treats people, I think the suicide and divorces before it were largely Nicole's fault. Her mother is mostly nice and able to attract men, her brother is a waste of space, but at least doesn't get in the way much, while Nicole is just a nightmare to deal with.

You know what’s great about this game? The fact that it’s never satisfying. The characters you want Nicole to target the most never get targeted. I’d love to see her get the counselor, gym coach, or the nut job cop, but she doesn’t. Instead, we get some rando teachers who seem like they’re just doing their jobs at first but then turn out to be awful. That’s another thing.
Everyone is awful. There’s not a single character in this game who can be considered just good or okay. When you think, “surely there has to be at least one male character here who’s not a total piece of s###” they end up being a ped, s$$ pest, or something else. Meanwhile, most of the female characters are cruel, manipulative, racist, or something else. It’s so unrealistic and unsatisfying and I hate it… and I love it. Just seeing the hijinks Nicole gets up to. She could work on her vocab range though. If there’s one thing I don’t miss from high school, it’s that the most clever thing students could think of for an insult was an f bomb or something s&& related. It got so boring fast.
In a way, it’s weird how Nicole’s view of the world is just right. There’s nothing that really challenges her views. Every assumption she makes about someone ends up being true, or at least most of them. I just would like her to end up being wrong for once when it comes to assuming the worst of someone. With how everyone is so awful, it would make for an interesting twist for her to think some person she has pegged for the worst of the worst ends up actually being alright. Like, the saint of this universe would be someone who could just be seen as average by our standards.

The truly tragic thing about this ending is that while you could take it as Nicole learning at least some lesson-at the very least, like, yeah don’t do fucked up shit for no reason like be white and sell crack in an impoverished neighborhood when you live in a well off suburb, duh!…- Nicole probably will end up killing her principal when she gets out. Which will lead to her being in jail, possibly forever. And if not that, she might do some other shit that leads to getting back in jail. Despite it coming from an insincere place, everything she said about jail is true. I just took a college course about prison education and incarceration, and many similar classes before that- so i’ve thought about this stuff a lot. For people who are actually stuck in poverty and gang/street life, that recidivism (going back to jail) is a real trap. Because inside, you’re reliant on the prison for basic needs, and then going back home after getting out of jail can lead you returning to illegal means because you have to deal with shit like a felony record, and going back somewhere that led you to be incarcerated in the first place.
All that to say that the game creator seems to have done their research. This ending is certainly one of the worst, even beyond the events we actually see/are told about, because the future after Nicole gets out of jail will likely be terrible. And just because she deserved to learn her lesson doesn’t make the U.S. carceral system any less better or fair. It’s designed to uphold modern slavery- and that’s not even an exaggeration, you’ll find that’s true if you care to look into it enough. If more people knew the direct ties from slavery to mass incarceration, there would be more of a push to redirect community resources, abolish policing and prisons, and make a better world.
Anyway yeah this game touches on a real life issue well even through the exaggerated parody lens with Nicole’s fuckup. It’s great. I love this game
The way I see it, Nicole found her true place in life and it's better this was for pretty much everyone else.

But Crispin kinda more has the stereotype of acting deeper than he is for sex, rather than acting nicer than he is for sex. I think he's just genuinely chilled out and isn't necessarily faking his temperament.

Besides, it was a good call, because Bicole is a liability. Helping Nicole would be like keeping a smart feral animal as a pet. Dealing with her is a nightmare for those who want to "save her" or "help her".
