Of coz, 1988 was the year MOE banned chinese medium schools and replaced it with a watered down curriculum for every one of us to eventually get English to be de facto master language. Treasure this unique passing of time where we have 3 generations of people, (dialect, mandarin, English) living together as very soon the English speakers will replace the former 2.
Chee Hong Duck history go back longer, not 1988, it was 1978, when all teaching changed to English in junior colleges. Those wanting to study in CHINESE will, have to continue their study in the second grade pre-U centers, for three years, not the usual two year. And in 1979, GP in CHINESE was totally scrapped...... I am very clear of this history, because unfortunately I was suppose to start my JC in1978....... Nightmare of those days still haunting me today...... imagine you had study subjects in Chinese for 10 years, and overnight, you must study all subjects in english....... thanks to those elites making the decision or, shall I refer them. Idiots.....
