People think crookham came out of nowhere but he was a 3 time Pennsylvania state champion in hs, the only reason people might have not heard of him was because he didn’t compete in national tournaments junior/senior year due to covid and injury, but he was a top recruit and it’s not surprising he’s this successful
Well also, college wrestling follower here… I could give two craps about hs wrestling until watching them get recruited at the next level I feel like a lot of people are like that

Crookham was a hammer in high school so this isnt as crazy as people make it out to be. Consensus no. 1 recruit in c/o 2022 for almost 3 years straight before injury made him drop in the rankings
Lot of credit to Crookham. Proving the first W was no fluke. I'll still he taking Vito...if healthy(though I won't really know I guess) in the NCAAs, but I certainly won't be surprised either way. These two and Fix..they SEEM like the clear top 3. And Fix will again have Vito on his side.
Great match but Crookham not getting a single stall call is kind of ridiculous. Other than that first flurry and last takedown he was on his heels the entire match. Got shot out of bounds 3 times.
It's been kind of cool lately when they had the officials properly microphoned so we could hear their "instructions"; not just the commentary. For me, at least, being able to hear that active involvement in the match is a very real part of the match.
Crookham makes me feel nostalgic. He reminds me of the days of Lehigh when they had Cory Cooperman, Matt Anderson, Dereck Zinck, Dave Nakasone and others (a team of counter-offensive wizards).

Seriously. The short steps to gradually get yourself back to the edge HAS to get called for stalling at nationals. Crookham took maybe a dozen steps forward the entire match and they call stalling at the whistle like it matters then?
did crookham score off the same shot twice? seemed like he faked the outside sweep single and went right into the low single on the right leg on both scores. super clean

Crookham's damn good, I'm impressed. I thought maybe their first match was a fluke but no way, Crookham's technical skills are sound, he tactically executed a great match. NCAA finals waiting to complete this trilogy!
Crookham is great. But if it is freestyle I can still tell Vito would win. Which is why he needs to forget about NCAAs and focus on the Olympics going to 65.

Hats off to Crookham to beat Vito not once but twice! That said as any wrestler knows some styles just have trouble with others, and I think Brooklyn's style along with his strength is not a good matchup for Vito. However i think Crookhams style plays into Dayton Fixs strengths too so Nationals will be really interesting and the seeds and bracket postion will huge fof this weight! And just like someone else said remember Carr beat Otoole twice then lost in the Natty Finals, so we will see. Great wim tho and repect too how based Crookham is!
Backing and fleeing for seven, nearly uninterrupted, minutes without even a warning for stalling....painful to watch. The "winner" would have been disqualified for fleeing / stalling in international competition...or forced to wrestle. College wrestling would be a lot more interesting if the rules encouraged offensive wrestling, instead of rewarding this crap.
Vito made numerous errors and allowed Ryan to get to his bread and butter. Vito has to make changes in how he wrestles if he wants to win another NCAA title.
perhaps unpopular opinion here but i hate the prevalence of defensive wrestling that folk style favors. guys just shell up, score a couple points off someone else's shot, then lock up again. no stall call here was kind of ridiculous when vito controlled center the entire time
