Yeah, these were great games. One small side note on the ruleset used. The deck was one of the decks I build for the reprint masters, but I ended up playing a different one. This means i could only play cards that were available in revised, 4th edition or chronicles. Otherwise my deck would probably contain 1 chaos orb and 2 icy manipulators to become a bit more resilient. When I challenged Timmy to a game his reprint masters deck was already disassembled, so he suggested to play another spicy build instead and I must say that I was not dissapointed. I have played this deck against some of my opponents in the reprint masters as a bonus game after the regular games and some times it worked, and some times it didn't. I did on several occasions managed to use the rituals and artifact mana to ramp out a lord of the pit and win quickly. The biggest I managed to get the lord with this deck was a 17/7 with a howl from beyond. Thanks again for the games, I had great fun!
Thanks, Timmy, for another great episode. I never even thought about how Fallen Angel can be used as a "failsafe" for LotP--to get rid of it and pump when needed. That beautiful black-bordered black deck is something (with the Black Mana Battery--never have seen it played)! And your Living Plane deck generates some good ideas for brewing as well. Well done!
I always learn cool new stuff in these matches. I never gave Kormus Bell much thought but I really like the idea of making all your swamps creature for sac fodder. I also never thought of living planes and old man to steal lands! Probably because I only have one old man and no living places. 🤣 Very cool. From a technical standpoint I prefer the side by side screens you usually do for these matches. Just my 2 cents. Great stuff regardless!

I love the Hippy playmat! Lord of the Pitnis a very nostalgic card for me being the first rare I ever pulled. Good to see it work in Game 2. The Living Plane deck is sweet! Kind of sad it’s so expensive at over £100+ for even a beat up Italian copy.

WAS working on a Alpha set in 2016 but sold, a few months before everything went to yet another plateau. It's the grossly cost of the cards to buy that is a turn off and it was time for me to put money where I need it to go / spend it in other luxuries. I always catch a hankering to play Old School though, and I have thought about photo-paper proxy collection. Sure, I know proxy is a dirty word for some, maybe most, but I just don't want to have 10,20,40, 50, 100K USD in cards in my possession and proxies seem such a wonderful medium.

I also feel that a re-print only or revised only would be very limited; I like, rather, LOVE the idea of old-school as I feel the card pool is fairly large. Adding FE, Homelands, Ice Age, and Alliances would be THE BEST.
Really like the deck Robert, I'm going to add it to my list of budget decks to build. Are there any tweaks you might suggest? I was thinking +1 Mind Twist, - 1 Demonic Tutor, - 1 Howl from Beyond, 1 - Raise Dead.
I tested tutor and it didn't really help me much in this deck. Mind twist is of course always a good option to make the deck stronger, especially with all the artifact mana. I choose not to play it because I feel games are more fun without mind twist. For swedish B&R I would add 1 chaos orb, 2 icy manipulators, 1 jet 1 lotus if you have them (all not really budget options anymore) The hive was usually not good enough, maybe replace that one with another kormus bell, or tetravus. The howls i would keep at 4, also work kind of nice with the will-o'-the-wisp, the raise deads I would take out.
@@RobertMeijboom What about breeding pit to make food for lord of the pit? It's also a good defense against The Abyss. I rarely see breeding pit played likely due to the 2 black mana upkeep cost.
@@joeb1522 yes, in a format with fallen empires breeding pit can be a good addition as well. The upkeep cost will however make it harder to cast the lord of the pit. The deck is quite black mana hungry. Especially if the format also is 4 strip format in which case you will lose a lot of swamps as well.
That was just because the idea of the deck was lord of the skies with all flying creatures. I added the hell's caretake to combine with the tetravus to keep recycling them to get more tokens. the only game in which that might make sense is against a very slow deck. I never actually boarded them in, but I may revisit this idea some day and then try them main.
I really think you should play more 1.5 Magic. A lot of the decks that show up on your channel would not get completely annihilated in that format. The decks would only need almost no changes to be legal in that format. Or at least have these decks in some format where The Abyss is banned.

Both decks are very flavorful. Might be fun to see an unpowered version of your deck play against his. Might be a bit more of a fair match up.
True, I def had advantage of all that power, although I do think that my version of Living Plane needs all that power to work. Still working on it 👌

1.5 is a cool format, but it doesn’t see much play here. We have X points and 7pts singleton that people play here.

No they are black border sleeves. They work nice with 4th edition and chronicles but not so good for revised and unlimited cards.
