    This color 1973 educational film is about drug abuse. Tom Smothers and Christopher George are featured.This film shows how young people may attempt to deal with insecurities and inadequacies by taking drugs/alcohol. The film stresses that young people can help one another and find other ways than substance abuse.
    Opening titles: talent listed. ALCOHOL DRUGS OR ALTERNATIVES (:06-:18). High school kids watch a drug abuse film and mock it. Then actor Christopher George starts to discuss what we will be seeing as this film will be different. Some high school age teenagers talk about what they have done as far as drugs and drinking (:19-2:24). Some people who depend on drugs and alcohol talk about it. They give their reasons why. Anger, frustration, wanting to escape are reasons to embellish in the world of drugs/alcohol. Everyone has painful feelings. Comedian Tommy Smothers explains how he was raised and things that were aid to him that made him feel bad about himself (2:24-6:17). If we only remember the negative comments, we condition ourselves to never see/hear the good. Christopher George mentions many words that can create bad feelings about ones self (6:18-7:46). People talk about why they did drugs and looking to belong. How most don't realize others are going through the same problems you are (7:47-9:43). Pressures of all kind can lead people to try drugs. Trying to join the crowd by showing everyone wearing a bag on their heads as part of following the crowd is enacted (9:44-11:48). Even if you 'join the crowd' you will still have bad feelings when you are alone and come down from a high. If you don't want to do drugs or alcohol then you shouldn't. Don't accept traditions just because (11:49-13:19). George gives three scenarios trying to explain drug addiction/abuse in concrete terms (13:20-15:42). If a friend needs help, we need to help. People who were addicted talk about their experiences to what finally made them stop (15:43-18:15). The answer is inside you. And most must discover it by themselves. Bad feelings must be overcome. People talk about why they decided to turn their lives around (18:16-19:38). Being positive takes time. Make it a daily challenge and work on it. What is one really good at? Find that and pursue it
    (19:39-21:00). A boy rides a motorcycle, a girl paints, people do things that they love. It's about making ones self happy (21:01-22:18). Things you do that you are good at keeps you positive and replaces bad feelings. Feelings of inadequacy are there because you are still looking for what you're good at. Don't turn to drugs and alcohol. Avoid the temptations of drugs and see what happens when you're sober in life (22:19-24:49). Trying is the best thing to keep yourself in line. And have fun. Invest in positive feelings (24:50-25:21). End credits (25:22-25:30)

    This and others like it should be the number one trending video's these days with updated versions being made every 5-10 years to keep up with those who only see the era they live in thinking its something only their generation understands..Many people seem antisocial in a social media society..The amount of substance abuse is embarrassingly abundant and a lack of morals is devistainting to comprehend if you have no backbone... Life is what you make it. An overcoming accomplishment with true happiness in sobriety or under the influences of habitual failure. These days were prophesied to many generations so there's nothing new under the sun. Our Father says there'd be times like this..Thanks for sharing with this generation the importance of sober living..There's more to life..Seek it, take full advantage of everyday and Thrive. Look at what we've become in 2020..Thy Kingdom come LORD, with Godspeed Thy Glorious Kingdom come

    Hmm. That was pretty good. Came for an old scare PSA, but okay, that was pretty decent as these go.

    Christopher George's display of toxic (though anti-intoxicating) masculinity was quite unabashed. Certainly not woke enough for a Gillette man. Unfortunately, he passed at the age of 52, allegedly as a consequence of heavy drinking and smoking.

      The tobacco marinated vocal chords gave such an advantage to many of our stars that they died very quickly from it . You can really see that now

    My dad didn't do drugs, but he grew up with the same kind of home environment as Tommy...no love..no compassion..noone showed him any empathy. Our mom had to show him *how* to love.

    When Christopher George made this video, he only had ten short years to live.
    At least his legacy will live on thru you tube. “Do as I say, not as I do”

    Love the 70s fashion and hairstyles, as for the message of the film I don’t think it would have any impact at all today, even though the message is the same today as it was in the 60s onwards, young people today are exposed to drink and drugs, mostly on social media, that the message will need to be a lot more powerful, they need to see the real aftermath of substance abuse, whether that’s drink, drugs, or any other medium within the spectrum. Some of the films I saw when I joined the military in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 would make your toes curl and your brain to turn to mush, pictures of young people who looked like (please excuse the analogy, but it’s accurate) they had been in a concentration camp, it did exactly what it was intended to do, I haven’t ever drank, inhaled, injected or sniffed anything illegal, I have over indulged in alcohol and smoked to many cigarettes, but nothing that could turn me into a holocaust victim.
    Thanks for sharing this interesting and informative video. 😔🤬😀👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

    If you can't do things right, then do them left. Or up. Or down. Or in the hyper-dimensional direction of tau zeta omicron 77-4-019. Right isn't the ONLY direction, you know.

    • @satanofficial3902
      @satanofficial3902 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      But you'll probably want to avoid tau zeta omicron 77-4-018 as that's just the hyper-dimensional Road To Ruin. So, don't be tempted.
