gosh its so crazy to hear it up against all those mics! i really find it hard to tell a difference against most of them. for the price its a steal. it looks ridiculous but it sounds phenomenal

I must be one of the few people in the world that actually loves the Bee microphone's look as well as it's sound. I saw it as more of a, "wow, these people thought of everything when it came to this mic. To the included shock mount, pop filter, DAWs software, and ever box to store it all. I also like the pop of color and aesthetic to focus on when I'm in my dark sound booth.

I'm still breaking in, though I've had to take a break for a few months, but I still have my Bee & my next studio will have it in there as well. Impressions, it's a great starter mic. It picks up a bit warm, which isn't a bad thing. So I feel like it compliments my kind of haughty snarky almost baritone nicely. I do notice that it peaks pretty easily. But that can be mitigated with engineering practices & technique. But the AT2020 peaks just as easily without the warmth. I've also really liked the pop of color in my booth. As well as the included shock mount & pop filter. I paired my bee with with a Tonor T20 arm which included yet another pop filter. It's a great combination. I'm getting my Worker Bee tomorrow. Can't wait to try it out. What caught my eye is the low noise floor and overall how good it sounds for under $100. It's not so much how it looks, but it's a bonus (I think it's cute lol ).
The fact that it originally sold for much more makes it a beast at the cheap price point. Honestly I think the cheekiness of the looks held it back a bit...which is a shame. Hope you love your new toy!!
I purchased the Worker Bee's big brother the King Bee a year or more ago and have been very, very pleased with the audio quality. Depending on where I'm recording, I reach for that Mic over the RE320 whenever my recording location allows. The Worker Bee is almost as good as the King Bee and at $90 it' holds it's own to mics costing twice as much and more.

If you are looking for a good video idea, you shgould compare inline boosters. The cloudlifter and fet head are the go tos, but the SE DM-1 is equally as good, and half the price. Like your channel though, quickly becoming my favourite mic channel, I can see your channel getting much bigger. Keep it up!

I have the NT2A as well, brilliant microphone, I haven't heard anything come remotely close in the pricerange, it just sounds very smooth. Got the workerbee and I've been using it a lot as well, but when I really want that pristine ass modern vocal sound I sitll go with the rode
Yes, it is enough, the GoXLR is a bit less noisy, but keep in mind, if you ever want to use a Fethead, Cloudlifter or Condenser microphone - the GoXLR Mini can only do 24V, not the usual 48V Phantom power.

Neat mics developed for Gibson by the founders of BLUE mics. Worker for $199, King for $350. Gibson went BK, Neat bought back all stock and sell for pennies on dollar now. King Bee is impossible to find now, and dumb me didn't buy one for 130. Tested a King Bee and that thing is a beast with amazing sound. (frequency response on that looks identical to Blue's discontinued "Reactor" mic that was multi-pattern and sold for 500.) Worker graph looks just like Blue's original "Spark." There ya go, too much information! (I need a hobby...)

You may notice they don't record as "loud" They are more forgiving for poor room treatment and other voices in the same area. Condensers require phantom power and are more sensitive to sound and will pick up more. They tend to pick up room ambience more as well as other voices that may be around. That said they tend to sound better and offer more depth to the audio. This isn't a great explanation...but I think Podcastage has a great explained video if this wasn't enough

Somehow I get the impression, that the differences between cheap and very expensive Mics are small. Pros understand it but for me I did hardly hear a difference between the tested mics.
I actually LOVE how this thing looks. So, I bought one. Lol ... I was pleasantly surprised when I recorded some spoken word with it. Then again, it was originally a $200-plus microphone.
I like the specs, but I hate the design. It's not aesthetics, it's practicality. It's a square mic that has to be used with its own proprietary shock mount. No one is ever going to make a replacement for that and if Neat goes under (the way they get passed around, that seems likely), then you're screwed when it breaks. Put a standard stand mount on it, must buy. As is, hard pass.
@@DarkCornerStudios Believe it or not, the one on my king bee cracked when we had a mishap with a mic stand. It broke at the screw holes on the mount. Luckily, the plastic is pretty stout and some high strength super glue and some curing time has it back in action every weekend. Its well made but the weak points do exist, but it took a hard fall (plus a few leading up to it) before it gave.
Also, having the king bee sideways, causes it to sag a fair bit. Its not a huge issue but the weight of the mic is quite hard on the bands. Not sure if this issue is as much of a problem with the Worker, as its quite a bit smaller (which the length, spreading the weight, is more of the culprit than the total mass itself.)
Not even close to the NT2A, and worth that extra money. Much brighter, more clarity, and a certain smoothness that changes the character of your voice in a good way.
The King Bee tempted me, it was half the price of the Rode NT1 and the specs, extra large diaphragm etc ,looked great. The Worker is still a great price for the quality. Nice review Aiden. 👍
That is a great question. I can't imagine why it wouldn't bee...heh. That said is there any specific reason a mic would fail at rap vocals? From a performance specific standpoint...this mic would work just fine
Sure, in general aesthetics don't really matter... however there are ugly mics. The Rode pod mic comes to mind, but the bee is a top offender for sure! Though, for the price, the aesthetics don't matter, hah!
GOOD mic! Kept up with the Rode! (Biased being an Aussie!) The Rode maybe had a tad more presence, but it was a bees dick different! (Pun sort of intended!)
The Mackie EleMent (EM-91C) is comparable slightly higher self noise and the build quality isn’t as great, but the sound is similar to the Neat Worker Bee. And...the Mackie looks way better on screen.
There is no shame in finding something aesthetically pleasing. Now...as said in this video...this overcomes that...and let's the quality speak for itself. I think the main interpretation is that no product should be using a gimmick to sell...and...honestly...this thing does come with a lot of gimmicks. That said...I have the video on the king bee 2 coming out Monday
I was lucky enough to snag a King Bee and I love it! Solid as a tank, and great, rich bass that isn't muddy.
That will probably be my next purchase...just to say I did...

The Mackie EleMent (EM-91C) is comparable slightly higher self noise and the build quality isn’t as great, but the sound is similar to the Neat Worker Bee. And...the Mackie looks way better on screen.
eww, me no likey the P120 at all. can and a string. Worker bee is pretty impressive, especially considering the wee little electret capsule.
please aim at the right mic when doing the comparison
It's not easy doing this...these things sometimes have to come put in the wash.
But also a good indication of what it's like slightly off axis

There is no shame in finding something aesthetically pleasing.
Now...as said in this video...this overcomes that...and let's the quality speak for itself.
I think the main interpretation is that no product should be using a gimmick to sell...and...honestly...this thing does come with a lot of gimmicks.
