Knowledge is power thanks for sharing ...Manufacturers need to provide regular updates on issues like this. Most of us work on a variety of boilers and any info is useful.
When I go to one of them….doesn’t matter what it’s doing, I always check that red seal with the analyser, if it’s gone I tell the client that’s the first thing I’ve got to change as the boiler is now “ at risk”. By changing the pump and then leaving…you’ve left that boiler at risk ( unknowingly). I’m not having a pop by the way…. I’ve done exactly what you’ve done in the past
It’s all a learning curve in this game unfortunately, got there in the end luckily, but once I know something I never forget so will be checking that first on an overheat situation (and on services I do anyway) I didn’t know it could cause overheat
@@snapgas9832 I’ve never had that either… I went to a new install, boilers first service. The fitter had run the pipes on heat only version in such a way where the casing wasn’t on properly, so when that red seal goes, products of combustion would of been in the room. I appreciate guys like you putting videos up, another medium where we can all learn from each other
Happens on the classics too but you can usually see the heat marks. Always check the seals. Very reliable boilers when looked after I’ve loads over 15 years old. Can be annoying doing some worcster jobs but overall they last and customer service is the best around by miles.
I've renewed quite a few of those red seals, i even now carry a spare on my van permanently as i now know I'm going to need to renew one any time soon, i got frustrated with that manufacturer and have moved away from them as an installer
Hi mate, I do multiple a day, always just keep 1 in my service bag as I know for sure no one’s changed them previously I like the greenstars they just do the job, every boiler has its weakness but these in my opinion are decent
I think I have a boiler with the same issue, set it going runs ok for a couple of minutes, cuts out, loads of water hammer. Leave it for 10 mins to cool down and it starts again ok. I'm thinking I take the casing off and see if it still trips out
Yeah tbf I've had the o/h stat activate due to heat escaping off the top of the main hex...gas sniffer, mirror or fga will verify if seal leaking... Nice one bro
I get loads of kebab worcesters with leaking burner seals. Quite easy to replace. Make sure you check / replace the white plastic spacer at the back, as these start dissolving from the gasses & then the burner lid won't shut squarely. I hate the dodgy manifolds, PRV & expansion vessel positions but overall they are great reliable boilers.
Worcester have a technical bulletin about the red seal. They should be telegan’d everytime to check if they are failed and if products of combustion are leaking into the combustion chamber. Also changed every 5 years at least I think it was too.
Yeah mate they did, and yes you are right! Reason I put this video out was that it stumped me and couldn’t work out why it was showing over heat with no sign of the boiler over heating! Everydays a school day in this game
Those burner gaskets are crap, not fit for purpose. I've been to boilers that are no older than two years and those gaskets are leaking. It's got to the point it's now my first check.... nothing worse than changing one of those on a hot heat cell
@@snapgas9832 What are all the other avenues. Please list them. I had a Sime boiler before and it lasted 15 years. This Greenstar combi boiler 24i only lasted 11 years. I want a simple boiler and not the computerised ones, easy to access. What do you recommend that would last longer that 11 years.
It could do as they have the square type of heat exchanger, I had it on an old cdi the gasket at the front had gone and was blowing heat to the over heat stat next to it
They do require that gasket to be replaced on every service. Don't know why people dislike them as for me by far the most reliable boilers out there. I think most people who dislike them are because they are not fault finders. For me Vaillant are the most unreliable but easy to work on. The baxis have two overheats and both fail due to gaskets or sight glass cracking.
That's a good tip.... Worst designed HE of all time IMO.....absolute garbage , I've fixed dozens and dozens of these over the years and I don't even want to mention the plastic blocks , utter shit show... Cheers 👍
Wouldn’t s flue gas analyser have helped , if nothing was obvious, the combination gases must have escaped, so run a chimney sweep mode then wave a wond around the top , the seal is supposed be changed regular so asking when the last service was , if more than 15 months change it on service
I’d never come across this issue mate, I tried the obvious bits! Now I know I’ll Never forget it, but the amount of comments and messages I received saying thanks and handy to know
Your a good lad.
Love your video,s.
Thank you for your time.
Thanks Greg

Exactly why I thought I’d share my pain 😂
Thanks for the knowledge. Never stop learning in this field.
For sure mate, never ends 😂

Yeah they are good last easily 15 years plus

Great of you to share

Very true they are good boilers and work no matter what’s going on lol

@@snapgas9832 yeh some good videos mate started watching through them and followed! As you say every day a school day
nice shout. will keep that in mind.
WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE WORST MAIN HEAT EXCHANGER EVERY MANUFACTURED.
Each to their own
Good tip. These things have to be one of worse boilers ever produced, thanks for the video.
No problems mate
When this was happening was the boiler firing up for seconds cutting out and sparking again??
No mate it would run fine for a while but when heat built up inside the case that would then trip the over heat thermostat
Good to know, cheers fella!
Thanks mate!

Hi Can you advise, my boiler is the 24i junior with the same problem, where is the gasket?
Please get a gas safe engineer to repair this, as may be a different fault!
Engineer said by Greenstar 24i junior is overheating, said I should replace the boiler. Do you agree. The boiler is 11 years old.
Yes, Aslong as he has checked all the other avenues

No worries mate handy bits here and theee
Dont suppose this happens on a 4000 30kw model does it ?

There’s so many nuances to every boiler I guess, not every issue is the same
Did you do a sweep test on it 1st time
I did mate, but I wasn’t aware that could even happen at that time
That's a good tip....

👍
Trouble is I feel we need to know as much as possible about these as they are everywhere and will
Be for a long time! (Agree though 😂)
ive fixed tons of these as well ,great for buissness lol
Good video
Thanks mate, just put out another 1
I can;t believe you went into a Worcester 3 times without the need for a blood transfusion.😁
Haha just a few cuts and bruises 😂
Thought the faff to remove the casing on Worcester's was the worse until I came across an Intergas boiler...
It's mandatory check which I was told to carry out every time you take the case off the boiler. Hey hoo..it is what it is
Decent tip👍🏼

I hate worcesters, nice tip 👍
Thanks mate, may come in handy 1 day
Why do you hate worcesters. What do you recommend for a studio London Flat.
Bro good but don't draw your pic show proper boiler
