- We're planting Europe's first old-growth redwood forest here at Eden! The first sapling was planted in March 2015 - cloned from the remains of a famous Californian redwood that lived 3,500 years. Because redwoods put out sprouts in a circle around their trunk, even when the parent tree dies it lives on in a dozen or so sprouts. The forest will be an eternal living library of genetics. Keep on planting!
Amazing. I live in North Carolina and here we have a couple of them which are about 60 years old and over 100 ft. I just ordered myself a seedling to plant. Truly amazing trees.
@@muneebiqbal5584 The seedling came in a few months ago and is already 3 feet tall. I have it planted in a 5 gallon bucket for now.
@@muneebiqbal5584 I think it would have a much better start in a larger pot. I know they love lots of root space for sure.
@@stevieg2440 Heck yeah, glad to hear! We want Sequoias everywhere. Where did you get it from?
@@proaudiohd There are only certain ranges/regions where they should be. Planted in the wrong place, it can be dangerous as they will die without enough water, and they need TONS of water. Drought-prone, high elevation areas are examples of poor habitats for them.
Looking forward to joining you in creating a legacy Eden Project :)
Intetesting !
Good job, More power to you guys. I am trying to grow sequoia's as bonsai's. ( I hope)
How has that gone so far I would love an update or even some pics
Brilliant 👌🤞
Nice name. I wish the for clear skies
My coastal redwood is 2 years old and as tall as me in a 45L pot, however its sensitive to sunlight as it keeps getting brown branches.
time to plant it outside unless you live in a cold climate or too dry
9 year later I wonder how much they grew
key word: sustainability.
How big are they now 2024?
