Omg Olbermann actually said banning Rose from betting on baseball "would be like banning Shohei in 4 years [for betting]." How portentous did that end up being?

Pete Rose's biggest mistake was taking Marge Schott's offer to be the Reds player/manager. That enabled him further to bet even more because he was in a position of power. It came at the expense of his roster, & that's just as selfish as a player taking steroids. And when Marge hired another #14 in Lou Piniella from the Yankees to be Rose's successor, Lou took that same roster of Reds players & had a wire to wire 1990 season which culminated in a World Series sweep of the A's. What was Rose doing so wrong with that team that Lou did so right? If Pete Rose managed the '90 Reds, the Reds title drought would be, ironically, 14yrs longer than it currently is!

There was a time when people who had a difference of political opinions could still be friends. Some of that still holds true today but it's fading away fast. Also you can like certain music but don't have to like the musicians politics. For example I like Ted Nugent and and some of Kid Rock. Do I have to like their politics? No I can say even Kid Rock sang with Willie Nelson and there's nothing wrong with that. A disagreement in politics doesn't mean you have to hate the individual no matter what.

I listen to Olbermann's Countdown podcast, and sympathize with much of what he has to say. He is wrong about Pete Rose, who is a malignant narcissist incapable of redemption, short of divine intervention like the Road to Damascus event. No mercy for this POS. Any remorse is just another hustle by Charley Hustler.

KO - great point about Shohei, it's the talking heads in sports & social media that want to crown Shohei and label him "the greatest", then if he does not produce in future years they will be the first to tear him down. Calm down "sports journalist" in sports & social media - we all know you are going after views, hits, clicks, and subscribers using Shohei and hyperbole as your stepping stone.

Underman is a horrible human being and I'm shocked Eisen is friends with him. Still a Rich fan, but it's gonna take a bit to shake this off. That said, my more charitable side thinks underman would be a great fit for Mickey Florios radical PFT enterprise. He could team up with Josina Anderson and do some real damage to American culture, just like he always dreamed of doing.
