The bone necklace is associated with GG, and talked about as a symbol of GG and DD’s relationship! It has practically not left DD’s neck! I wish people could understand that in western calling a potencial lover your “brother” is just WEIRD and disgusting. It’s not natural like in some eastern countries. I keep reading/hearing it, people just translate things literally, which can be problematic. I’d rather “didi” and “gege” with no translation, it’s cute and the cultural thing is implied.
I hope you understand what I mean, I am not against eastern culture, I’m just saying translation must take into consideration the MEANING of words. And that’s not what brother means in western.
The Chinese words gege and didi literally mean older brother and younger brother in English respectively, with the same meaning. It’s just that in China and Korea seniority counts alot even if it’s just months or days that they are older coz that means the younger one has to give respect and listen to the older one and later on it seems to have developed into something for some people who have “quirk” in being the older one in the relationship.
