To be fair, about the swear words they use, they use them intelligently: The first one, "coglioni", is in the phrase "Vi conviene toccarvi i coglioni". "toccare i coglioni" is a superstitious gesture here in Italy, to ward off from bad luck. He's basically saying "you better hope you're lucky" as for the second one, it's the use I think is the smartest: swear words in Italy are often used as reinforcing for a concept. The word "cazzo" is used in the 3rd repetition of the bridge: "Parla, la gente purtroppo parla Non sa di che cosa parla Tu portami dove sto a galla Che qui mi manca l'aria" That roughly translates to: "They talk, people unfortunately talks They don't know what they're talking about Take me where i can float For here I miss the air (or I feel like drowning)" They keep increasing the tension through the bridge until in the 3rd repetition they change the word "cosa" with "cazzo", changing that particular phrase in "They don't know what the f*** they're talking about", an almost exasperated cry. They changed it for the ESC, but in my opinion doing so they lost some of the impact this song has, some of the meaning. It's not gratuitous swearing, it has a meaning and a reason.

1000% agree. I hate swearing in music, because it usually spoils it, but this particular word in this particular phrase sung this particular way was exactly what the song wants you to feel. You've nothing left to say but that. Absolutely perfect and one of the best structured rock songs I've ever seen come from any European band ever. And it manages to be modern, not just some throwback imitation.
That's probably the best reaction commentary on our entry that I've seen so far! Btw apart from glam and hard rock they are also heavily influenced by funk music and the guitarist usually has a really remarkable funky groove, so that's why the riff sounds so catchy
Also they released another version of the song where they changed the chorus replacing "cazzo" with "cosa" to avoid being banned from the competition lol
The fun and energy is contagious. I feel like that's one of the main reasons they won. We need the freedom, the hugging, the excitement after a year of lockdown and social distancing.

I have seen many TH-cam commentators from all over the world move their heads up and down to the rhythm of bass, drums and electric guitar of this band of very young boys from Rome who started their careers as simple buskers ... The Maneskins deserve to travel the world to do live concerts!
The band is called Måneskin which is a danish word translated to Moonlight. The female bassist Victoria De Angelis who is half danish came up with the name.
Etymologycally, yes Måneskin is the same as moon shine, but the meaning is moon light. Moon shine in English is mostly understood as home brewed alcohol as far as I know.

There are actually 2 swearing words, One in the bridge and One in the First Lines and they've bene both canged according to the rules of the competition. If you are wondering which were these words: co-gli-oni (italian for male private part) --> errori Ca'**o (the other male private part) --> cosa
co-glio-ni has a different meaning in that sentence. If you translate it, its meaning is "you'd better touch your balls". This refers to an Italian habit: if a man sees/hears about something that might attempt to his health/luck/safety, he touches his co-glio-ni just to keep bad luck away. Here it means kind of "you'd REALLY better watch out, because we're here to stay" (referred to people that didn't trust them before, I guess)
