- Epilepsy is a disorder that puts people in a condition where they are not in control of the nerve cell activity in the brain. The aftereffect of it is the restrictions that it puts on your everyday life. Right from making everyday plans to thinking about the future, people start planning your life in and around epilepsy. But Sharmishta was not willing to bog down by the same. In this video from the REAL STEEL series, sponsored by Tata Steel, we have Sharmishta R. Sharmishta is a planning freak and from the very beginning of her career, she focused on getting work done with a clock as a company. Often times, she stressed herself to an extent where it became too much for her brain to take. As an inevitable result, she got a seizure one day and got diagnosed with Epilepsy.
Her life changed drastically after this and she had to bring massive changes in her lifestyle. Right from cutting down on her prep hours to taking proper sleep breaks and indulging in hobbies more often, the process slowly helped her get better along with medication and therapy. And the manager that Sharmishta is, it was a natural choice for her to think of a management degree going forward in her life. At XLRI, Sharmishta now is extra careful about her health and wants to take on one challenge at a time.
Tata Steel salutes the fighter in Sharmishta, who is on her way to make a mark for herself despite the hiccups.

I am also Epileptic fighter since 3rd class and don't remember much of my childhood days coz of seizure.. now I will be turning 30..and still didn't get the nice guy n family who accepts me as the way I am.. I am healthy now and pursuing Ph.D..I am very ambitious..Thanks for sharing your story dear.. More power to you

I have also diagnosed epilepsy in 2015 by neurosurgeon sushen chattopadhay and he gives me anti epileptic drug ,during my board exam I also used to sleep at late night .At that time I don't knew sleep effect a lot in seizure .Having epilepsy I studied lot and got 96% in my 12 th board exam.I am now 22 and studying MBBS .
Sir,Do you have Driving License?
As Epileptic people in India are not permitted to drive.
But other countries except few permit to drive after being Seizure Free for certain Time Period.
Sir were you given extra time during the examination? Please let me knw.

Same thing i also got during my 12th standard,my toughest subject was mathematics...after my 12th i was diagnosed epilepsy,den i got into medicine mbbs,i did my way i can study,i completed my mbbs,after dat i got a proposal but got rejected becos i hav epilepsy,dat time i felt very depresed..den after 2 years got married,had a kid,now he s 6 years,3 years back i got my MD through NEET..and i completed my course and cleared my course last year.Stil I'm on medication ..i just believe in myself,relax, and becos of epilepsy i suffererd lot in my life,though my seizures are very well controlled by medication..I'm now 32 year old

I have same problem .On medication for lifetime.Enjoying life. Only problem-finding partner .When I tell her about my medication , they back off. Extrmely Depressing.With medicine absolutely safe as per doctor Any suggestion ?

I had been suffered with epilepsy but after my surgery iam fine. Me too have faced the same challenges too much of restrictions in the case of studies and other daily routine. On the day of my 10 th board exam I again suffered with seizure I lost almost 15 to 20 minutes in the class room itself but with the grace of God I could complete it . I personally know that how much you have suffered . But u r awesome hats off to u my dear. ❤️🙏💕

I am also suffering from epilepsy from the birth so I accepted the epilepsy as one of my best friend ,there is a lot of problems that I am facing due to epilepsy,I sacrificed my dream ,I want to be an army officers but I am invalid for this,it is hundred percent truth that I am living being having non living character, god what is my fault ,god please cure me and give me one chance , really I will suicide one day ,I am living for my parents when my parent will die then I will shoot myself ,I think I am burden for this word because I am not able to do anything for this world ,it is my experience that I am sharing ,

Why shoot yourself do some positive work for others
Just be positive.....Take this as a challenge and you will see miracles around you. I you are on medication, have it timely. There are a lot of people having sugar/BP pills, they are not a burden, then why you. Just be confident. No need to listen faltu comments around you or follow traditions that doesn't fit in your routine. You are a human like others and you have all rights to live your life on your conditions

This is the level of discrimination they are facing.

Hey don't stress yourself abt what others think abt you. It doesn't matter. They can't understand what you're going through. So just relax and stop caring what others think abt you. Just love yourself.
