Are all cycling gilets made equal?

I am a huge fan of the foldable super light gilet by VR. Admittingly, it is a bit cooler then this one, but It is much easier to mix and match with different jerseys and jackets. Only downside, which I would love to see fixed in a 2.0 version. Real Pockets rather than a pass-through opening for the jersey.

I hate gilets. The Deacathlon cycling Rain Jacket is mint though.
