Managed to afford one eventually (...as well as the gas bill...result). I visited a music shop in milton keynes having the opportunity to try both Genos 2 (already have Genos 1) and Korg PA5X. I quickly realised there was very little point in changing to Genos 2 (from Genos 1) as I couldn't discern much difference in tonal quality and machine was virtually unchanged. So sticking with Genos 1 which is an excellent machine, great sound quality and instruments and makes performing live a dream. But, I fancied adding new tones and styles to my library. The Korg is a different beast, definitely aimed at the professional and hence it's slightly less intuitive. Yamaha have simplified and distilled usability to almost beginner/novice level (which is why I think some people don't take it seriously.....but believe me it is serious). The Korg PA5x definitely has more of a learning curve but i'm liking the difference and was brought up on workstation type instruments (therefore I'm used to a level of complexity and will get used to it eventually). Main differences between Genos 1 and Korg PA5x is build quality - PA5x is solid and made for the road. PA5x benefits from the latest samples and sonic quality of the latest synths. The screen, layout, buttons and lighting makes it very impressive impressive looking. It is incredible so looking forward to learning it and using for live performance along with my Genos 1.
Hi Vacation Generation! I wanted to ask your opinion. I am new to keyboards, but I do play acoustic guitar. I really have always dreamed of playing my favorite soundtracks (movie scores like time inception, etc) on a keyboard or composing one, one day! I bought a microkey 37 keys but it was far too small and it has to be plugged into a computer. I found after plugging it in, the sounds / instruments were amazing. I am now a bit unsure of what to get, a midi keyboard or a keyboard with speakers and which one. I want something easy to use and play , and that sounds good and big. I have good 5.25" speakers on my desk anyway so leaning towards a midi keyboard but sometimes dealing with softwares etc, takes away from the experience of just getting down to playing and enjoying. Would love to get your suggestions , pls share your thoughts!
Y'all should've had this video front and center. So many other videos out there not really showing what rev 5x can do above and beyond the previous and competition. NOW, I'm impressed 🧐
Seeing this video I was fascinated and immediately wrote congratulations, I am a lover of keyboards but this one amazed me, thanks for sharing this wonderful video
I keep watching Korg PA5X videos, then Yamaha Genos 2 videos ... keep going back and forth back and forth ... just when I think I've made a decision, I hear another video and switch my mind ... argh! Driving me crazy.
shopping for these arranger keyboards is a mind-numbing exercise, a road that I find myself going down every now and then. I currently play a Korg PA-1000, and very nearly bought a PA5x a few months ago until I read multiple reviews claiming that it was "buggy" and actually froze up during live performance. So, until I get assurance somehow that this thing is crash-free, I can't see parting with that kind of money...
Pretty excited though that for the first time the Pa series is getting an 88 key version too. Not to mention the SST technology that was only on the Kronos and Nautilus.
back in 1983, i was able to buy one of the first korg poly 800 keyboards that had just been shipped to chuck levins in wheaton maryland. i remember talking to some of the sales people, asking if there was a keyboard out at that time that does what this new korg does. they all looked at me as if i was crazy and told me there would never be anything that could do exactly what this new korg does. i've been waiting almost 40 years for this new keyboard and it feels good to know that i was actually thinking out of the box all those years ago.
This is an amazing keyboard. I currently have a PA800 and I really am hoping that i'll be able to trade it up soon to a PA5X 76. I mean, ever since the i3, I think Korg has been in the forefront of Arranger keyboards, but this is just a whole new level. The sounds on this are, in my opinion, airplay ready. I wouldn't have said that for two many 'arranger' keyboards until the PA4X and Genos came out, and I'm still not too sure about the Genos. But, there is absolutely no question in my mind about this keyboard.
Actually, I had been using Yamaha for at least 35 years, but after using the Korg pa900 in my work, I find the latter more natural in terms of sounds, rythms and accompaniments. The only disadvantage is that you must stop the media player before switching to another mode and vice versa. Anyway, Korg pa 5x has corrected it, but unfortunately this comes at a high cost!!
Why can’t you record the arranger section, the instrument is great. Big, big big dissapointment, it is a arranger keyboard not a workstation, how stupid ,arrangers are modern day organs and a lot more, how unprofessional to not beable to record the arranger, yes it has a sequencer, you’ve lost me. At the moment I use it to just play. Unbelievable. ?????????????????????????????
@@lugerocovers9449 I'm not sure what you want to do, but you can record, in real time, the arranger section via the chord sequencer. Hit record, and play the chords you want, in time with the backing tracks. Far easier to use than a sequencer/workstation.
The Korg GUI makes Yamaha and Roland look like amateur night. Its just so much more intuitive, visually simplified, and common sensical than the complicated "menu and list" alternatives. Smart but simple things like icons for each of the drum kit pieces to tweak those settings is well thought out and easy to understand and interact with. We are visual people and graphics are quicker to digest.
For those of you that are saying that the Pa5X is a straight up copy with design elements of the Roland Fantom, Yamaha Genos (don't think it's the PSR series but I digress) and the Korg Kronos/Kronos 2 as far as sounds go and also the Set List (kind of), yeah okay that may be true, but at the same time and no offence intended, but why is that a problem? Obviously Korg would have had feedback from end users saying that their wishlist for their new flagship keyboard, was design elements of other past keyboards. Yes Korg may not have brought anything new to the table, but at the same time and again no offence intended, but why is that a problem?
Finally, they added the feature that allows you to play a rythm style "simultaneously" with a MIDI or an Mp3 file, something that I'd been using on my Yamaha PSR S950, but after I bought a Korg pa900 and fell in love with it, I got upset this feature was missing. In a live situation when you entertain people, you can't lose a second trying to play a MIDI/MP3 file immediately unless you "stop" the Style Mode "then" press the Play Mode. Now, this Korg pa5x is solving the problem by adding this option, but, too bad, I can't afford it!!
They'll come out with a cut down Korg PA 1100 or something two years from now. Much more affordable. But they have to develop the 5X well enough to make the lower end product. They did this with OS 2 of the 4X and brought it to the PA700/1000.
I have a question.... You can split the keyboard in several places. For example LOWER from C1 to C2, UPPER 3 from C3 to C4, UPPER 2 from D4 to F5 etc ?
So I'm coming at this from a groove box and synth set-up... I also have had various samplers and sequencers from Korg and Roland... Seems to me that these Arranger keyboards are loaded with amazing sounds that far exceed a groove box or standalone production unit like the Akai Force or MPC (but you can get really good sound packs and VST's on those machines). Can I sequence drums and samples on one of these machines? can I then play keys over those sequences and create complete songs? Can I midi out to other synths or say TB 303's while playing those songs? can I bring the sound of those external instruments that are sync'd over midi into the arranger and add effects? Can I then connect the arranger to a computer running a DAW and multi track record the midi and the audio? If I can do all these things I would sell 99% of my studio and buy 1 arranger.
I’ve owned a Korg pa4x for years, use it at my gigs. It looks like Korg took away the ec5 foot switch option???? I sure hope not! I use the ec5 to control the drums and fills in real time at ALL my gigs! Is there another option for control of stops, start, fills, a b c d sections with a foot switch of any kind? Man, I sure hope so, or I can’t buy this amazing new PA5!
In the Quick Start Guide it says that you can use a footswitch using the assignable out's in the rear of the keyboard, so I couldn't imagine why you can't.
@@jordanking7711 maybe they’ll come out with a new multi switch with a 1/4 in jack?? The ec5 foot switch uses a proprietary connection that is not found on the new Korg PA5…. I believe the lack of this real-time control will cost Korg LOTS of potential sales of this new keyboard. I hope they address this issue…soon!
What about the folks that have thousands of dollars invested in music sample libraries for the Korg kronos? Will these be compatible with this new pa5x?
hello, korg pa 5 is a great tool, the only problem is the version, bender sometimes doesn't build, these 9 regulators don't work until you raise it to 127 and lower it, plus the fact that on the new version you don't play for 15 or 20 minutes it turns off by itself, it would be better if instead of this they eliminated the buttons so that when you press them the lights come on and not like the colors of the music all the buttons are on and from this the button starts to crack, these errors need to be corrected, then there is no better tool than this, I ask for your understanding 👍🤝

Yes there are issues. The operating system is new and buggy and there is a LED issue. The LEDS seem to be burned. Not all but a few. See Korg Forums about this issue.

So where is the software update that was coming in May? nothing, 1 year lost waiting, no quick record, this is what I always use in this PA keyboards, but now nothing, I only use the pa4, the 5x is just using space going older. This is not OK, I think his will be my last korg keyboard, after about 10 I bought in years,, price went much up and features down, that's not OK.
Most of the features explained here are available on my humble Pa3x minus the new display colours n Matrix Pads. Can the matrix Pads be used as a drum pad / kit parts to play new drum beats plus percussion parts n then record the loop ?
And this is absolutely normal, it's a 2022 machine against another machine that is technologically 5 years older. As a Genos owner, I can see this PA5X sounds very very good, especially piano and movie section.
Verdade.
Can somebody do the demo with the 88 version
O Yamaha Genos que se cuide!!!!
As a fan of yamaha genos i can said this korg keyboard surpassed genos .
@@kelvinperez8845 checkmate 🙂
truth
And this is absolutely normal, it's a 2022 machine against another machine that is technologically 5 years older. As a Genos owner, I can see this PA5X sounds very very good, especially piano and movie section.
Já me escrevi no seu canal parabéns
obrigado man, forte abraco
Top!!!!
Does PA5X have "midi to style" like PA4X had? (it was the best function on any arranger keyboard). Thank you for the answer!
I suppose so..
Not yet. It was mentioned to be coming back in an OS update. Kaoss as well.
