Olan fighting his way through the castle, the dying screams of soldiers signalling his arrival. This game had the writing of a fine play and you just get sucked right into the story, enough that you don't even notice that you're watching all these scenes on a 24x24 grid, floating in a black void with tiny detailed sprite people fighting on it. What a timeless game.
@@BlakeElliott246 The hero is forever remembered as the villain, and the man who manipulated a massive war and religious conspiracy both, who murdered and betrayed his way all the way to the throne when he started out as a commoner, whose reign was peaceful and prosperous, was doubtlessly the most dastardly one left standing.

"if you don't kill me I'll kill you! Delita's true feelings toward anyone who would oppose him BUT only after he can longer use them to further his agenda
This is one of the most heart-wrenching moments in all of Final Fantasy’s Franchise. The promise Delita is breaking here. All of the hope and love he is turning his back on. His first true step towards becoming that which he himself once hated most. 🥺😢
He broke no promise he never hated himself he only realized in the end that everything he chased and wanted and obtained left him empty that’s not hate
Eventually it's not your goals and ideals that define you, it's your everyday actions. So Delita became the sum of this actions: a professional schemer who's motives for scheming seemed less and less clear. And in the end he almost completely lost his soul.
I believe that Delita genuinely loved Ovelia. However, he wasn’t going to leave any pawn unused and that included even her. For him the ends justified every mean. Though he felt love for her he was willing to use her just like all the rest- his ambition came before all. In the end, Ramza found love (though not romantic) at the cost of everything. Delita took everything at the cost of love.
I remember getting to this point in the game and feeling pretty mixed up about seeing Delita here. On the one hand, it was a relief to know he was still alive and that he could potentially reunite with Ramza. But on the other hand... he was clearly not the same person... He seemed quite scary. Everything Delita had been through shaped him into someone that unfortunately hurt himself more in the end. I can't help but feel for him in that sense.
The truth was, Delita did use Ovelia but he did not lie. He did intend to make her into a real monarch but in the process he would make himself into the sovereign king of all Ivalice. As much as I dislike what Delita does in the game, he is one of the most based characters of all time. Also, haha, fk you Balmafula.
I view Delita as a narcissist who doesn't know he's a narcissist. He does terrible things to people who don't deserve it. Just because he doesn't know he's a narc doesn't mean he's good. He's still a narc.

She doesn't die here. I think Delita cut her larynx out or something because she never speaks after this and in the final scene with Olan, she seems to be communicating with her hands.
She knew that after Delita confessed to his plot to betray the high priest that he wouldn't of let her out alive due to knowing that is who she works under. There really was no other choice, but to try to defend herself at the spot. The church suspected Delita possibly going on his own hence why they sent her to begin with but there wasn't any concrete evidence to do anything until it was too late.

Absolutely. Well said. I've always dreamed of seeing a live action play of this one day. It could be masterful.

Delita set things up so well for himself that the only one who could have killed him is Ramza. And Ramza chose not to.
