The village of Veshab is one of the most remote settlements in Tajikistan, where the descendants of the Sogdians live. Many of them live below the poverty line and reside in small mud houses clinging to the mountainsides like swallow nests. These homes lack both water and toilets. The people here are engaged in livestock farming, raise silkworms, and prefer not to challenge fate.
