this is really cool, you've got a gift for explaining both the simple and technical points and the music sounding great both before and after :) thanks for the tips!
I like to use an exciter sometimes to add ''air'' on pads and mixes. Instead of adding EQ. What you said about width is cool too. I listen to old electro masters like Drexciya and sometimes they'll have a pad in mono panned on one side. I really like this. Small pads that don't take too much space as opposed to the wide immersive type of pad.
Great tips. I also like to use the EQ in mid side mode to separately EQ the side. A high pass filter along with a high shelf bump is usually where I start. It gives a widening effect that I can use to accent a chorus for a subtle effect, or set it that way for the whole song.
Huge help! I make ambient so every stem, is basically some eort if a pad. Resonance is my biggest challenge. Its essential for creating rich dreamy evolving oads but resonance can really get blurred in a mix. EQ us not always the answer because eqing often kills the character of rhe resonance. Its a balancing act.
Thank you! 🙌

Compressors and limiters can help tame that resonance without losing the gist of the sound.
I think, this video deserves a like.
