So in Gesture mode, you can give it one of 10 commands to control your drone, such as follow you, take off, land, and even take a selfie. And so I thought heck, I could do this. You know, apply some AI computer vision magic and BOOM - Open Source Gesture Control Drone. Sounds easy right... [Laugh sigh] I'll tell you why in a bit.

So working and playing with drones has always been on my bucket list. Iv never owned or touched a drone before this project and today in this series, Im going to tell you how I made it, how it works, and what happens when your AI Powered Drone crash lands by itself.
To show you how its made, we have to go back 4 weeks when I first formulated the plan for this project… How it should works is as follows: We need an open source drone platform, preferably with a smart camera that can perform AI...
We want this to happen onboard the drone without any assistance from any external device like a PC. A lot of projects that Iv came across, process the AI and perform image processing on another computer also known as a ground station.
We want to avoid this because, its not practical in the real world. And also from the DJI demo that we've seen, is that it seems that all the processing of the images is performed onboard the drone for real time control. All we then need now is an AI model to perform object detection on me to determine what gesture commands, that I am giving to control the drone.

Bro please work on a drone which can convert itself into an insect like spider 🕷 as soon as we land it. It will increase the functionality of drones and is something new.
Aside from being uncalibrated ESCs, another reason was that the ESC is pumping more current to the motor while the motor is stuck on the ground by the propellers. The ESC pumped current past its rated current and it burned the module itself.
The reason ESC pumps more current to the motor is because the ESC thinks (not literally) that the motor is a very high load so it continuous to up its output until the motor starts. But the propeller basically cannot rotate due to it being stucked on the ground, which makes the motor require more current.
What you can do to avoid white smoke when the drone tips over is to disarm the drone immediately to avoid the ESC pump more current.

I see it is going to be Pixhawk+Rasberry Pi+ROS drone. Good to see it. It is true that 1st flight of it is challenging. Once the parameters in Ardupilot and ROS nodes are fixed you are good to go.
Hi Susanta, Yeah Im using Pixhawk+RPi but not ROS. Just using Native Python and Drone kit for the control. If you are just starting out without the right guidance it is. But after I spoke to some experts it because easier to figure out and to get it flying. :)

I’d argue it’s more practical in the real world to have the ai be on a server so that it could end up controlling multiple devices
One thing I learned in my initial days is that the extended legs are just pure garbage , instead after some failed landings i just 3d printed some extenders to extend from motor base
And taking off from grass is kinda tricky you have to be 100% sure and take off without any second thoughts if you have one it will bounce and turn into a weed wacker
Using a hard tile always helps

Your videos are great, congratulations for the presentations, I need help with a Hexa I'm assembling a Hexa with an APM 2.8 but when I connect to the mission plane to do the tests on the motors, they are inverted, motor 1 works correctly on arm 1, motor 2 it works on arm 4 and 3 on 6 are all inverted I've updated the apm with a firm 3.2.1 I've done a lot of research but I can't find where to check. I am very grateful if you can help me. Thank you for your attention and rest in the Lord's peace.

Hey hru, i need help building my drone. I’m having problems starting pixhawk with a fs-ia6b trans. My controller is binded with the trans but not letting me calibrate on ardupilot

Yes, i was able to fix that. Question though ? Is there a way to fix a flight controller? I think I crossed wires by mistake or over loaded the flight controller with the cam and landing gear and cam transmitter

I think so. Only the main light is coming on not the B/E light or the other lights. Also I only get one sound signature when powered up. Motors are not responding or a esc’s
Do you know if a quick way to repair this or should I just get a new flight controller

esc burned out because the motor consumed much more current that it could handle, whne the blades touched the grass..

first of all: great project! uhhh. those are ancient parts! why? why? these ESCs are controlled by PWM i guess? 2-4S big and heavy like hell... the cheap flysky remote, the ABS frame? why no carbon?... uhh I hope this ends well
