Im sure Kaze will eventually do it, but he states that he learns so much simply by doing romhacks. If everything he does is a benefit for his game design skill then he should do it as long as he can, no time there is wasted in my opinion.

@@LollinoDamb64 I think we would still have these masterpieces, but without Mario and not on the N64. But you have a point, who would make SM64 hacks if he left?

I always wanted nintendo to make a sequel to mario 64 on n64, i would of been the smb3 of 3d mario as smb is to mario 64
the amount of coloured lighting reminds me of late 90's pc shooters which smothered everything in it to show off new tech

If he was going to get burned out, I think it would have happened a long time ago. He's made dozens upon dozens of these hacks, and not just for SM64 either.

I love the Nippers in this! They're so adorable! In fact, I noticed that this game has a lot more animation than most of your previous ROM hacks! You continue to improve on your work, which is very admirable!
I really love that you've setted on using a singular aesthetic choice, this way everything looks a lot more cohesive than it did in, say, last impact. It makes the whole thing look like an actual game and not a romhack. Congrats kaze, this is some mayor milestone in sm64 hacking
despite that the original game is now 25 years old, mods like this show what the old engine is capable of.
So Nintendo should hire Modders like you in creating downloable addons like this for the base game.
That would be a big + for them

Making the Goombas blue there instead of their normal brown is a nice little callback to SMB cave levels, small touch but I appreciate it. Cool stuff as always, you're a real wizard with this. Inventing new culling systems not used in the original *just* because having doors separating rooms wouldn't fit the level style, what a legend.
I LOVE the little bounce the coin counter does as you pick up each coin. Also love the fact that the HUD isn't on screen all the time.

Love the colored lighting reflecting off of Mario. Also I love the detail of the coin counter icon bouncing everytime you collect a coin. That's a very nice touch. I do hope the UI like the health icon, lives counter, and coin counter gets updated so it feels like a new game. Everything else though feels new and polished and I can't wait to try out the demo on my everdrive when it comes out.
The style of this is MIND BLOWING! I've been a fan for a long time and I can just see the improvement! Good work Kaze!

You are *truly* a hardcore SM64 fan's dream come true. I don't know how many of these hacks you've made, but you must be somewhere around 50 or more at this point. It would take an entire lifetime for most people to play all of them!

That minecart section is awesome! It reminds me so much of the mine cart levels in Donkey Kong 64.

Nintendo needs to hire you to lead the development of the next Mario game. God only knows what you can achieve given way more resources and smart programmers around you.

This one is kind of giving me Donkey Kong 64 vibes. Can't put my finger on why though, maybe the more atmospheric music than the usual upbeat mario stuff? Really incredible work.

Those are Nipper Plants. They technically debuted in Super Mario Bros 3.

This is fantastic kaze, one thing I have to say is that the new mario model is good but I think the eyes are a little weird. Maybe if you could change the eyes a little bit while still keeping the polygon count low that would be cool.

That mine cart section was a blast to watch! One thing though, would it be possible to have some sort of indicator for NPC's you can talk to? It looked like you could talk to the mouse because it was always facing the player and it had a unique design, but I feel like those plants could be confused for regular enemies, or a lot of the time in romhacks I find myself pressing A or B uncertain if it will strike up a conversation or not
"if it looks friendly or rotates towards you while standing still, you can talk to it" is the way it is handled so far in this game.
