    We call the indian instruments : The rainstick (
    A rainstick is a long, hollow tube partially filled with small pebbles or beans that has small pins or thorns arranged helically on its inside surface. When the stick is upended, the pebbles fall to the other end of the tube, making a sound reminiscent of rain falling. ) We have them also here in Canada.

    Regarding replacement belts for tape players: you can buy a bag of 100 belts on eBay of various sizes / lengths for less than $2 (free shipping). Then you remove the old belt and find one from the bag that is roughly the equivalent length and thickness. I've done this many times without any issues. No reason to spend $20 on a few tiny pieces of rubber.

    • @tootall5559
      @tootall5559 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      sometimes you can simply use a rubber band of the right size and thickness. I buy the asssorted rubber bands and often one will work.

    • @ZachAttackIsBack
      @ZachAttackIsBack 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't suggest using rubber bands unless you just need a temporary fix. The material in rubber bands is not quite the same as in cassette belts, which are designed to last for decades.

    • @phillyflash43

      @@ZachAttackIsBack Yeah, rubber bands will dry out pretty fast, Even if they're not being used.

    I want snow in England. Our climate we don't really get snow like that. After you have been doing it for years like Pete has you know what sells. I am seeing what I can get around these parts. The issue really is we don't have goodwill here, we have charity shops. Many have been raising prices with the digital age as its easier to figure out valuations. The prices flew up over the years. Not saying that's bad but when a charity is trying to make money the prices should be reasonable as well. I always say if charities want to shift stuff, don't hike prices. I have always like the goodwill system as some of them raise for more than one charity :)

    My problem is how to do 3 things in a timely manner: taking good pictures, creating the listings and packaging things.
    I don't have too hard a time sourcing.
    Also I have a hard time with procrastination and perfectionism because a lot of items I source are more than sellable but often require a bit of cleaning/prep/testing. And because I think I'm not going to be thorough enough or I don't have the right tools on hand to clean or test, I put off doing it for way too long.
    So, yes I definitely could make $100 a day but because of my inefficiencies, it would probably add up to 12 hours of work.
    Totally my own fault. I know there's better ways of doing things and the more you do it the better you get. I still work full-time and need to learn how to not be lazy and push through a bit of tiredness after my day job to put in the effort.

    I went into Goodwill the other day and have not been there in awhile they have become very good at weeding out the good stuff for themselves and prices are high. To my surprise they raised the price 2 dollars on everything, reduced their color tags sale from two colors to one and really jacked prices up on their so called boutique and electronics. So I spent way to much time in there to find not much worth buying. I did find a DVD VCR Combo they wanted 45 but it was a good one. Plugged it in and it would not turn on, so I gave it to them at the counter. The woman summoned some guy from the back told him it wasn't working and he just took it and put it right back on the shelf. I looked at the woman and said "really?" So what they want is some poor sole to buy it without testing then hey have their money because there are no refunds. She went on to say to me whispering, " I know, it has gotton so bad here we have lost all our regular customers and look at the store "...meaning how loaded to the gill it is. Meaning they are not moving product. I must say it was loaded! There an entire isle of electronic stereo dvd vhs stuff stacked on both sides of the ise. Some with sticker prices close to 200 dollars. Insane. I just cannot waist my time rifling there any more. A quick one two three walk through and only the visible stuff I can spot or look through very quick is about all I can do there anymore. When its 30 dollars for a shirt its time to go!...lol

I'd ask more than you said for it, you can always dicker down. Hand made one of a kind is going to be worth more than the machine made stuff. A lesser machine made one is 30 bucks for one half the size.

Shipping will keep most from buying the speaker system it's large and heavy with the big amplified subwoofer box. The subwoofer alone usually goes for 60 on the bay, and the other speakers 40 to 80, but the few I found that sold as complete systems didn't do as well. I'm wondering if I should split it up.

    Great video as always Pete! I would have looked at the Manfrotto tripod at 7:02, sometimes
    they sell for decent profit. I have a question about reselling. It's easy to find out what something will probably
    sell for with completed listings and Worthpoint, but I find it difficult to know what will sell quickly. Is this
    all a matter of experience, or is they a way to determine what items sell quickly? Thank you.

      Sorry, I’m not Pete, but I think I could answer your question. When searching for comps check the number of how many available, and how many sold. The amount that it shows sold were sold in the past 90 days (how long ebay keeps the listing), and of course active is your competition. Figure it as a math ratio, if 30 available / 2 sold - 15:1 bad sell through, 2 available / 30 sold 1:15 means they are begging you to list it!!! Also check the spread if highest sold for is lower then cheapest available then it could sell instantly if you price around the middle. Hope this helps. P.S. your right manfrotto tripod can be really good, I flipped one last year $50 to $350.

    In Canada we no longer have Goodwill stores - or at least most of them are closed ... rent too high? I loved that store

    Hey CL Hunter, i gotta question. Where is the best place to look up the value of a specific magazine? There's a magazine in Amazon right now listed for $5,001. It's in pretty rough shape too. I have the exact same magazine in near mint condition. So I'm thinking the seller is crazy or maybe it is worth a few bucks. I don't really know where to look though. Any suggestions?

      what is the magazine? im pretty good at researching value. it sounds very unlikely it's worth that as people can ask whatever they want to.

    Great video Pete, I also carry a extra testing cassette tape with me when sourcing its saved me more then i can count. Making a $100 bucks a day thrifting is really not that hard if you have the knowledge and know how, Specially if you use craigslist/ FB marketplace. Great video with tons of useful info. Thanks for sharing

    I've realized to go all the way to selling and having the $100 in your account everyday. I need to source at least $150 or more profit worth of items a day.

      They are too limited because they are phone-based only. Most of my ton of customers do not find my merchandise on a phone. I still use a desktop (like Pete) for all listings. That's why Craigslist reaches more potential buyers, including people who are using a computer at the library and do not even own a phone or desktop!
