    Very charming piece. I like the recurring leitmotiv and its variations

    The orchestra was often playing a bit behind the soloist, performance felt kind of uneasy. Always love Shaham's playing though.

    Not one of Tchaikovsky's better works. I guess this was a warm up to his opus 35, the great and monumental Violin Concerto in D major .

      That’s probably true, but I think it does serve an important service in pedagogy as it provides violinists an entry into his concerto, as many of the techniques used are similar

      You're basically...wrong. I'm reminded of Beethoven's fantastic answer to Czerny when asked about why the public didn't like his 8th symphony as much as his 7th: "Because it's so much better."
