I rate CoD1 a lot lot higher. I put in a huge amount of hours into it when I built my first gaming pc after working as a christmas temp in debenhams. CoD1 was when MP was a lot more skill based and the SP campaign although not as overly cinematic and dramatic as the later games but simplicity is where this game really shone. The United Offensive expansion added a lot more to the game. Bigger maps, more game modes. vehicles.... It was almost like a Battlefield game.
COD2 was OK, I didnt get on with it as much, CoD4 was super super fun. Had many hours in the game, World At War i had tonnes of fun in although I bought the game on the premise that the team were talking the oldschool approach to the game and adding vehicles back... They added two tanks to only one or two MP maps..... which was huge disappointing as I felt cheated and lied to but the game itself was super solid and Gary Oldman losing his voice during the production of the game.
Best thing about CoD4 was the community itself. There were tonnes of modded servers online and when I did get burnt out playing vanilla CoD4. custom servers kept me playing the game. People were making custom weapon packs and porting maps over from so many different games
But i digress... CoD1 tends to get absolutely demolished in opinion polls because a lot of the mainstream gamers (console gamers) never played it in its hay day and have no reason to play it now because 1. its an old game, graphics arent as good and 2. The multiplayer on it is dead although there might be a few ghost servers that still exist and maybe community run custom servers that still exist.
Firstly thank you so much for such a detailed comment ! I agree with a lot of your points to be honest multiplayer has changed so much over the years its crazy. Cod 1 was so much more difficult and that's what made it unique. I am personally more of a zombies player than anything else so i enjoyed the cods that feature that mode more but everyone has a valid view and this one especially is really good :)
@@ryanhoughtongaming forgot to mention I played CoD all the way up to MW2 afterwards I decided it was time to move on MW2 wasnt my most proudest purchase. Activision was trying to move into the mainstream console market in a big way and they deleted a lot of features that were in the older games to get it to work on console generations around MW2s release.
Me being there from CoD1. I played on PC so I quit buying CoD and moved on to other games. I wasnt happy with the direction of the franchise. MW2 also had tonnes of bitters and hackers and we couldn't even kick them from the game most of the time and if we left the game to find another. P2P matchmaking would put us back in exactly the same game that we'd just left 90% of the time.
The franchise stopped being fun for me

mw2 deserves to be in top tier, and blops 3 and world at war deserve to get knocked down 1.
Fair enough with that one I think a lot of it is to do with whether you prefer zombies or multiplayer

Honestly I loved BO3 so much especially the zombies. This is definitely the cod i spent more time playing than any other
