    Its so rare to find a TRUE review that is not paid for. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this. Well done and to the point.

    Never use a endmill in a drill chuck.

    I have what appears to be an identical mill but with the name Quantum. Like you Im really happy with it and I also have fitted a 2 axis DRO, Im happy with the installed z axis. Mine came with an imperial WW pull bar and all the tooling from the supplier was WW but I got a metric bar from Australia and so am now able to buy tooling from Aliexpress etc so I have a bit of a mix but its OK. My unit is MT3 and have had no problems with any of the tooling I have purchased. I would recommend you don't use the drill chuck for milling, sooner or later the chuck will let the mill cutter drop, get an ER32 collet set. Im very happy I got a separate mill rather than one on my lathe, I can do so much more with the separate mill.

    I got the Weiss VM25L, which is a clone of the RCOG-25V. It has true inch scale. The guard window on this one disables machine operation when open, and the draw bar is 7x16-18 thread, so I didn't have to modify that. It was also missing one thrust bearing, same as the RCOG-25V.

    Ive got a clone of this one called Amadeal VM25L. Its a great lathe. Very capable and has good potential to convert to CNC in the future. Taking time to adjust the gibs and tram the head etc makes all the difference. Firs thing I did after uncrating was to clean everything and re lube it all with way oil.

    Great of you to make this Vid Tony...I'm in the market....I prefer belt drive......the Grizz G0704 and re-badged are geared...PM25s and its clones are Belt...CNC kits exist for the G0704s..not sure about the PM25 clones.....I think the RCOG-25V might be a go for me.....gota keep it small ...cant accommodate basement real estate for Canadian Iron like an XLO mill or a Standard Modern kick butt lathe.

    My 25 year old JET mill JDM 16 never had any problems, like your machine. one thing you will notice the JET is a very heavy machine, nice and solid, ask any machinist this is important .

    Great video Tony thanks for sharing. Im just starting my search for a bigger mill I have the LMS X2D now but the one draw back with it is it does not a quill. Since you have had this mill for 9 months now any updates or issues you have found with this mill or recommendations you have on this mill. Thanks Bob

    looks to be exactly like the new one i got. WMD25VB seems very good and tight and solid! the z-axix yes plese let us know, i will certinly be interested. i am thinking of a bracket bolted to the head and then attaching a holder to the dro slider. this should help i assume.

    Grizzly sells a drawbar that will fit with a slight modification. Look under parts for their G0704. It works as bought but it doesn’t thread much into the collet. Some of the shoulder needs to be taken off on a lathe.

    • @tonycstech
      @tonycstech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a PM-25MV clone.
      I think its best to go this route without modifications. At least give it a try.

    • @mdyeomans11
      @mdyeomans11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tony, I bought the same mill. It is actually closer to the G0704. It has the belt drive similar to the PM-25v but the castings are much more similar to the G0704. I was so confused when I unboxed it, because, like yours mine said MT3 taper on the front plate. But then discovered it actually was R8. I need to go check out that bearing to see if I have the same issue. Thanks for the video. I was starting to think I was the only one to buy this machine. Btw, I got mine from Amazon, not eBay. But I imagine it was the same seller.

      @@mdyeomans11 I am watching BlondyHacks, she has precision Mathew brand. Looks identical to mine except some color and a safety switch behind the glass door. My machine does not have that switch inside at all. I am going to implement that soon hopefully. Already printing the cover to house the switch.
      As far as brands go, i think Grizzly and Precision Mathew and Klutch are all just cloning facilities. Who knows what is the actual origin of this design ????

    Very nice video
    Some of the factory missed quality issues are truly shocking.
    R8 collets that won't fit the drawbar,this would be an instant customer return for the majority of people.

      Yes but according to the seller, factory produces then this way.
      They are offering me refund the amount it cost to make a new one.

      I read up and I guess that some countries use an M12 thread pitch on R8's where we use 7/16-20. So confusing, lol.

      @@tonycstech I really hate to ask but would you by chance know how long that drawbar is? I'm thinking if I can find a readily available replacement with the proper threading then I'm going to pick up this machine.

      FIY seller was able to source the draw bar with 1.25mm pitch and will also include a missing bearing.

      @@scarecrowsworkshop8526 This machine is a clone of PM-25MV
      Maybe you can just buy that one part and call it a day ? Otherwise it will cost around 150 to make it locally.
      Seller was able to source the drawbar with 1.25mm pitch somewhere so i will be receiving it soon i hope.
      I think its best to contact the seller about this issue before buying. Ask them to make sure draw bar is 1.25mm pitch.
      The issue with that is the chuck it comes with will not work because chuck holder pitch is larger. I had to buy different chuck holder and i had spare chuck already. The one it comes with is complete junk anyway so might as well get ready for that.

    Precision Matthews, Klutch, Weiss, Grizzly, and a few other names are all the same on the outside only! The difference lies in the level of finish, fit, and function from the factory. They all come off the same assembly line but each re-seller orders them they way they want them.(like inch or metric dials brushed or brushless motors) PM and Grizzly have inch pitch leadhonestly say

What I really need is for the bean counters to understand how valued our on-site machinists were, but I'd have better luck asking for a unicorn and a dragon first.

    As a machinist with 40 years experience, it’s hard to believe that in this day and age with the Exponential rate of high-speed technology, and CNC Machining, we do not have manual machines that are Just as advanced as CNC machines. You would think that we would have manual machines designed and machined better than they were in the past. Disappointingly, the machines made in the past were far more robust and better designed than machines we have now. Why is that? Be that as it may , I would never buy these substandard Chinese machines because they make them so poorly and you always have to fix them or upgrade them. With a Bridgeport milling machine or a clausing lathe, there is no “upgrading”. The very idea of it never existed. And if I were to machine as a hobby, I would not buy Chinese benchtop machines or any machine made in China. I would instead by vintage machines made in the US Even if it requires some restoration. We seem to normalize the fact that it’s OK for car makers to build Cars with amazing technology, but when it comes to making industrail machine tools, they are 40/50 years out of date. Right now I work for a university and they purchased a new Bailey milling machine and quite frankly it’s a piece of crap. I could forgive Bailey for copying a Bridgeport, but you would think that at least they should’ve done is Build it as good as a Bridgeport. It’s insane to think that we have all this technology, with the latest in high-speed machining yet manual machines are being churned out as if they were made by disgruntled workers. I’ve lost all hope being a machinist and I can’t wait to retire in three more years.

      That's all fine, but most of these old Bridgeports are used and abused boat anchors that have issues that someone else is trying to make your problem. For the average person having them moved and setting them up to be used on normal single phase power will double the cost of the machine. These Chinese machines actually work great for their purpose.

    O"really well i have one of those little pieces of Junk your refering to. Yea they are bottom line, yes they have a few issues, but your wrong they are quite accurate. Perhaps you went beyond the machinese capability. All my parts Cold Rolled steal and 2018 as well as tool steel. I have no dro and assistant tools for thesw new rocket scientist plans they are creating using number decimals like 280.000 stupid . my milling vise is a 2 inch mini i have no milling vise a the moment i have done alot of work on my junky machine i did not even tram it and every piece of metal i milled was exactly accurate accept for my errors not the machines. My friend Keith Appleton has a old junky taiwan milling machine it is quite beaton up but the accuracy is perfect. my mill has a 350 watt motor small xy and z axis a bigger one is always nice for larger materials but the bigger machines have a problem that is the skill of the man running them that you cannot change. one other thing you critisized the fact the same mill is mass produced and the same sold under different brands the fact that many different companys want that exact mill means that that little mill is very popular further most all owners of this junky machine have next to no complaints so your evaluation is based upon miss use and notjing else!
