I have a question. I saw how we should never open a door if we detect heat on the other side and we should know more than one escape route. What should a hotel guest or housekeeper do if they’re trapped in a hotel room and the fire is in the outside guest hallway?

Wet towels and place under the door to the hallway. Crawl low to the floor. Don't panic.

In addition if you are able to such as if you are on the first floor or there is a exit stairway outside the building then exit by using the window by opening it and then once you are outside close the window to prevent the fire or smoke from spreading and then go to the emergency meeting area so that you can be accounted for.

Do we switch off appliances when evacuating or not?

Yes. Especially when you are the Zone leader(manager, assistant manager, supervisor or anyone staff in charge of that shift). There is what we call shutdown procedure. Your role is to ensure all electrical equipment are switched off or unplugged from power supply...etc. but if you are a staff, leave what ever you are doing and exit the building using the nearest exit.

Yes because Switching off appliances could be very important for safety reasons. For instance if there is a gas leak in the workplace or there are flammable or explosive materials nearby if you don’t turn the appliances off then they could potentially cause a spark that could then ignite the gas or flammable or explosive material which would then cause either a fire or a explosion.
