You do very well at this scale - not for me, but your skill is commendable!! I enjoy watching you work. You inspire the rest of us! Thank you & keep up the good work & making videos for us while you’re at it. Thank you from Maryland, USA.
haha hangar doors with a door knob on, great! Love that you made them work for so small scale !! I am going to build the 1/350 Tamiya Enterprise that I have had laying around for more than 20 years. I will be copying some of your work on the flight deck. Keep up the great videos :)

Hello again my friend! Awesome video as per usual! Always look forward to your American Navy ship models! So so so well done 👍🏼! You are definitely a master at it and it definitely pays off when looking at how AMAZING all your ship models turn out! Very well done! :) Much love from Milwaukee, WI USA! 🇺🇸 -Will :) 🖖🏻 🤗 😉 ❤️
I admire your skill and patience. I want to be like you when I grow up. The hangar feature on this kit is amazing .. could it be lighted and equipped with gear and Air craft ? I wonder …
Nicely done. I noticed that the color plates provided in the kit were that of CVN-74 (USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN) not CVN-73, so it's a good thing that you referred to actual photos of CVN-73 for topside details.
Huh. I'm actually surprised that a Japanese model company produced this. I was there when the GW was first homeported in Yokosuka. There were a fair number of protests. Also, I got the privilege of serving on that ship! Though I do have to say I don't think the bulkheads in the Hangar Bay were that light a shade of gray. I remember them being a tad bit darker than that. Other than that, your paint job is incredible!
I know that the USS George Washington CVN-73 has finished her refueling and complex overhaul at Newport News Shipbuilding, Virginia, and she's coming back to Yokosuka, Japan to replace USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76.
I am grateful for this build video. :) I am working on 1/700 USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72 (Sister Ship) and this is nearly the exact same kit in design but mine is a Trumpeter...not nearly the same amount of detail in the railing.
It's amazing that around 5,000 sailors and flight crew are stationed on just one of these Nimitz class ships and the US has 10 of them in active service. That doesn't include the new, Gerald R. Ford Class with its namesake already on service and the USS John F. Kennedy finishing fitting-out.
let me get my two cents in here. I haven't built a plastic model kit in over 5 decades thereabouts. One thing I did not count on is it took me over a year to build a Lindberg Model of the Tirpitz being the Missouri, North Dakota, Biszmark Yamamoto and Tirpitz really R my favorite battle ships. Being retired I plan on building all of em but I started this first kit it's taken me nearly 2 years simply because of getting time and alotta the parts/pieces had mold slag all over em and at my age with arthritis its super hard to go over & trim those crappy parts. However I am nearing completion and it really would be nice if these turds that sell this stuff would actually have & sell some display case that fits these damn things especially at the prices I see on some of the kits. I also have a models of the SS. New Orleans and Mississippi Queen Paddle wheelers. The paddle wheelers R/were made by the late Charles Douglas. He lived in Alaska and made military concept models piece by piece for the Military Boeing Lockheed and other folks. I was astounded finding some of the pieces in the New Orleans kit were already highly detailed. The only bad news is holy crap are there a lotta parts and the decking is deal pre stained wood. Also a lighting kit is included in the things. He used to sell his kits for 2-3K a kit. I picked em up at hunting lodge in Montana they were in this big gift shop area in the lodge laying on a table with some other odd ball stuff with sticky notes that said 4 SALE AS IS with the prices. The kits were marked $250 a piece along with a Muzzle Loader kit I took both model kits & the muzzle loader because I also love river boat paddle wheelers as much as I love Hawkins rifles. I bought some 3M Tufpak Lexan sheets and I am now in my 3 week of trying to construct and make a hand made display case and do a decent job of it simply because where I live there is lots of dust in the summers and I got this little bastard with whiskers and a long tail that likes to screw with things when my back is turned. So maybe I will start making model display cases for folks if I get good at it because I cannot find a model display case for this Tirpitz boat...
Oh GW, my former ship and home. She still a beauty both in real life and as a scale model. Hope ya doin' good. I send My salutation ta all who served and those who still serve. HURRAH!!
The Keel is not particularly accurate but few Ship models are actually accurate. I have served aboard Nimitz class Carriers and this one is sitting very low in the water. Those small water craft are acutually on a sponson on the starboard side, just forward of the starboard Aft Aircraft Elevator., the aft and Mid Hangar Bays should only have aircraft within them, and the Forward third of the Forward hangar bay is mostly tugs, and small vehicles.
OMG ITS AMAZING👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍😍😍😍😍😍👍👍🤑🤑🤑 I have question when I try to use panel wash I wipe with thinner dipped q tip and it just takes the paint right off instead?
You’ll want to seal the base layer of paint with some kind of varnish before you use any kind of enamel washes. Most people use a clear gloss varnish like tamia X-22 but a good satin varnish would also do the trick
At least I'm not the only one that paints their decks differently..... I did the same masking ( more-or-less ) for my JS Hyuga DDH-181 as you can see th-cam.com/video/ReT2hjTFUxY/w-d-xo.html @4:06 of this video. That is 4 minutes, 6 seconds into the Hyuga video above.
Spectacular. I loved every second. One question, and please consider this my own ignorance; what are those things sticking up all round the sides? I looked at pictures of the GW and can only see one thing which looks like maybe a radio mast on the starboard side in front of the bridge. But like at the bow you have a few that stick up. In RL, aircraft would be damaged. Can someone help me understand nicely? I'm sincerely trying to increase my understanding. Anyway, EXQUISITE job
In warships, the railings fold down during flight and combat ops. You will notice in frontline warships, when the gun is firing the rails around it are folded down to ensure maximum depression. Same thing with torpedo tubes.
How do you make such perfect weathering? Whenever i use cotton swab to remove the excess with a bit of lacquer thinner, the paint comes off with it, even with many clear coats to protect it
Use Tamiya e X-20 Enamel Paint Thinner for the excess. It's the only one that works well. And when using a cotton swab don't put to much pressure onto it, whenever you're doing excess. Cause it will rip off the paint.
