Dragonstar with the 444: 4 Tcs, 4 Farms, 4 Eco upgrades missing

Dragonstar not getting farm upgrades until after having placed more than 30 farms seemed like a major mistake to me at the time. Overall it felt like Overtaken just played better on top of having a good civ to counter his opponent.

I feel like dragonstar needed to be more aggressive. He knew overtaken made a distant TC, make him pay for that delayed uptime and don't give him a chance to boom into that camel-archer/hussar deathball

Both players boomed knowing one civ counters the other civ late game, so why didn't dragonstar push in castle age with that much a lead?
Also, since it's common to boom, maybe don't wall at all.

I think Dragonstar should have been more aggressive earlier instead of just adding 3 town centers. He played well and lasted long, and Overtaken kept losing many camel archers. gg wp!

New to AOE and the community, can someone explain what the advantages are to a 2-4 TC boom?
Other than creating more villagers, are there boosts to having more TCs?

a few, it gives you more area you can keep defended with arrow fire from garrisoned vills, you can also keep production of vills up while researching the building LOS, Wheelbarrow & Age upgrades. Also if you can get tcs next to more than 1 resource it takes away the cost of a drop off building.

TCs are also reasonably safe places to hide villagers in when raided, but yeah, it's mostly about how much you're going to invest in building your economy. More TCs means less resources for military now in exchange for more later, so it tends to mean the player on more tcs will be focussed on surviving until their advantage kicks in.

most players will eventually want around 120 villagers. while 3 town centers are a significant investment, not to mention all the food spent on all the villagers you will get to 120 villagers much much earlier. 1 town center strategies are essentially all-in. using the recources safed by not making more TC's and less villagers in order to create and overwhelming mid game army.

Looking at the movement on the map early on it feels like red player has map hacks
Used the camel for enemy tc location snipe and then finding out other crucial builds, directly
And the ships like having a 6th sense to go to the spot, like the fire galley for second dock

At that level there's a lot of predicting the opponent's strats/think like them.

They probably wouldn't have missed the sneaky fishing ships if they were hacking. Just lucky and skill really.
