Great job James. Your intros and getting quite cinematic, I was expecting you to enter from stage right strumming a guitar! As the flue lowered slowly down into the boat, I was expecting to hear Stanley Kubrick's 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' playing! The only outro you need as a grand finale after launch is one of you walking away from an explosion in slow motion as you leave your old life behind you! Food for thought whilst you enjoy a delicious Sunday roast in front of the blazing fire 😏🤭

Nice one James. Soon be Yorkshire pudding time! BTW I think you meant 150 (mm) diameter hole, and not radius [6:06] ;-) (sorry, I’m just a bugger for detail as I may well be doing similar on my fit-out in a few months time). Nice idea regards the wall screw-inserts in the CS board.
Enjoy your Sunday roast, oh, and order yourself an extra portion for another job well done mate. You deserve it. ;-)

Cheers me boy. Yes alright I meant diameter - I knew it as soon as I said it. But I’m a “one take kinda guy” so carried on with the mistake !!!!
The screw inserts worked really well into CS which is crumbly as plasterboard.

Replacing my 20 year old Arada Villager with an Arada Hamlet Hardy 4 so your video was very helpful. Major difference was I have to remove panels to check battening for pyrolysis and install fresh insulation. Chose the HH4 for weight as a Morso would have been heavier that the old Villager. Also Arada are only supplier still to extend lifetime warranty.

  • @bigKDL
    @bigKDL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi James another good vlog just thought I might say that you shouldn't have fitted the chrome trim before you had put the rope in the collar you may find the flue is tight against one side and you will need to remove the trim to fit the rope then redrill the trim to fit it back you can use fire rope on the bottom joint and then some high temp silicon instead of that messy fire cement don't forget to test for leaks with some smoke matches (available from screwfix or plumber suppliers) just to be on the safe side.

Usually I break bolts just with my fingers - this time I used a ratchet spanner 🤣

Stylish, contemporary, sharp and really smart James. You've done a brilliant job on the stove install....and is your Dad a composer? Great music.

Bloody hell - did he pay you to write that publicly??? No he’s not a composer but I’m pretty sure he’ll think that’s the best thing anyone’s ever said about him 🤣🤣🤣.
Glad you like the stove install - I’m happy with the look - just need the rest of the boat to match

@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt All meant with a sincere heart (and your dad's not paid a bean). You're doing a cracking job and the rest of the boat will get there. The important thing is that you're making a fantastic new home

    I honestly can't believe it's been 2 months Where's that gone

That looks tremendous. I'd be very proud of that. I knew you wouldn't get a nibbler for the hole. No chance at all of life changing injury with a nibbler. Where's the fun in that. Do you put rope in the stove collar before you put cement in. I only say that because that's what they did for my stove at home.

Yes Michael - That’s what I needed to hear from you Sir. No nibbler, no injury luckily either!!
Rope goes in at top only through collar. Just loosely to allow the pipe to expand and allow the pipe to squeeze the rope in situ. Then in with silicon.

Well done you, any thoughts on reflective heat from the stainless?

Hi James 😁 I am also starting from scratch so your videos are proving very helpful. I just wandered about the stainless steel, does it have to have an air gap behind it or do you not need it with the cs board ?
Any advise would be much appreciated
    Thanks Sara
