      @@AudioAdvice I’ve heard the 805 d4 and currently on the 805 d3 in my honest opinion, I only feel there’s about a 10 to 13% improvement directly from what the speaker implements. Obviously, not all the technologies are in this model such as the spider. The differences between those models may be a little more prevalent. Personally, though I don’t believe that it’s worth the upgrade for the difference. I mean sure there are variables such as the equipment you connected to the wiring if you want to get that crazy into it but honestly as it is rewarding they have a very good system. It is one of the biggest money pits of a hobby, if not, properly thought out. I myself actually would believe that it would be more of a considerable upgrade say coming from the generation of D2 or earlier. for me to consider an upgrade it would have to be at least 40 to 60% difference especially considering even the stair mount model is now up in price at 8500+ not even counting the $1250 that is almost in my opinion, necessary to secure your investment, so it really is a consideration all around that it has to be a definite, definite bigger improvement. Between those two generations. I could see the D3 generation being a speaker I stay with for many years. I actually like that style better than the newer one, even if there are scientific improvements to the sound, I don’t know it seems classier say is an example, like a grand piano just looks really classy. The newer ones my biggest scribe would be placement, especially for the ladder on top. Obviously, you would not want to have direct sunlight on that leather at any point, you would not want to see cracks or damage obviously with devalue them right away so it’s all a consideration. I’ve always been cautious on electronics. I appreciate your channel I know because you sell electronics it is a very fine line you have to walk between selling and being honest with people. Obviously you would not want to say well. This product sucks, but we’re carrying it anyway but you don’t wanna come off as hiding anything as well. You do a really good job of conveying information in a balanced fashion, and I always respected you for it as a company again thank you for your information and work.

    I've been a B&W "collector" since the early 80's. The new ones probably sound great but recent entries seem to be lacking the same (older) craftsmanship. In this case; it looks to me like less wood, less labor to build & lower manufacturing cost. If I sound like an old guy it's because I am. It would take a lot for me to spend $8K on the new 805D4.

    • @RennieAsh
      @RennieAsh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Audio Advice +/-3dB it’s not as “flat as possible”. Furthermore, their off axis response is definitely not within that spec. There’s more to measurements than the brochure and sales pitches. Being used in studios also isn’t necessarily an indicator of being flat. The ns10 is used in studios and it has a nice midrange peak.
      There are speakers that measure within +/-1.5dB with a much more consistent off axis response - the reflected sound of the room which you recognise, will be much more neutral with a consistent off axis response.
      I own a pair of B&W. They sound nice. But I wouldn’t say that they are the most neutral speaker. What they do well is reducing the harshness in parts of the midrange response, and making music pleasant and a big sense of scale (floor standers)
