Persona 3 Reload is a role-playing video game developed and published by Atlus. Reload is a remake of Persona 3 (2006), the fourth main installment of the Persona series, itself a part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. Completing Ryoji's linked episodes unlocks a bonus scene/dialogue on 12/31 ("Please kill me, I don't want to see you suffer") that's exclusive to his romance route in FEMC's version. If FEMC tells him she sees him as just a friend, he won't say it. Implies at the very least, he thinks Makoto might reciprocate his feelings.
Also, Makoto places Ryoji's music box not on the shelf with the other memoirs, but right at the top of his bed. I think it's the only item you get from social links/linked episodes that he actually displays, and even when the bedroom becomes desaturated in January, the music box remains the one bright thing in his room. On 3/4, he remembers Ryoji playing the piano if you go to the music room, and he looks at the music box before Ryoji texts him "Thank you." Regardless of whether you see it as platonic or romantic, Makoto loves Ryoji very much, and holds onto his memory enough to sleep beside it every night, even when everyone else has forgotten Ryoji existed.
I thought the unknown "thank you" message was supposed to be from Elizabeth?
@@infinitypercival5958 It's from Ryoji. It's stored under BMD_MailTextRyoji.uassest in the game's files (you can also see Makoto looking at Ryoji's music box before he receives the message, and Ryoji is the only character whose messages have a black background, for hints in the scene itself)

*I'm pretty sure Minato seeing Ryoji as someone very precious to him is canon because the movies, Persona 3 manga, stageplay (female version), and Kotone's social link with him basically proves that. Ryoji will ALWAYS have a special place in both the P3 protagonists hearts!*

@@Tsukie_Tenma P3P femc route. One of his SL ranks is a Sunday date where he says "I'd still like you no matter if you were a boy or a girl." The framing treats it very much like a casual coming out moment too.
This is truly the time that the answers Makoto can give are warmer. Ryoji is truly the tritagonist of the main P3 storyline.

Would have loved it when if Ryoji asks if we want to be more than friends with him, your romance choice, or your most recent romanced option if you choose to romance multiple people, would be the one to walk in the music room to interupt Ryoji instead of just Fuuka. If you have no romanced person yet then you can either agree or turn him down.
Ok, guys. I think I finally figured it fucking out!
If you pay attention to all the details in his linked episodes, you will find that he always tried to established connection with other people and tried to understand more about these connection with other people be it friendship, romance, family love or anything else. Now we have to ask 1 question. Why did he try to do so? It can be out of curiosity but in my personal belief, he was trying to figure out what exactly his relationship with Makoto is. This was why he attempted so many things. Of course, it can also be interpreted that he just wanted to experience new thing. I believe this is also one of his reasons.
What brought me the most attention was the fact that Ryoji came back because he wanted to be with the MC. What I understood is that Pharos developed certain relationship with MC. He got a general idea what it is. It is friendship. However, he does not really understand what that relationship even meant. Hence, he hanged out with lots of people as Ryoji. He tried to figure it out. Their relationship would have remained only friendship had the interaction between the two didn't elevate their relationship to new height. This caused new emotions to sprout within Ryoji and he became confused. The more he confused, the more he wanted to approach MC to experiment and to probe these new emotions. However, the more he did it, the more he became attached to MC. When Ryoji at the river bank with MC, this here is when he became the most confused. He questioned the reason for attachment itself because he couldn't understand himself and his emotions. When you do not understand something even when investigating almost everything about it, you started going deeper into its origin and its reasons, its purposes.
I surmised Ryoji had comprehended almost entirely what he wanted with MC before the last linked episode. However, he was sandwiched with an ill foreboding that he would run out of time. The last linked episode was when Ryoji finally let the cat out of the bag regardless how confused his desire to be. The 31/12 was the most obvious when he repeatedly told just how precious MC was for him. He begged to be relieved of memory of him and Makoto because he cherished Makoto that much that it was torment for him to see Makoto in harm way. If anything, he had already known that he loved MC (platonic or not).
Many will argue that Yukari & Makoto or Aigis & Makoto to be the canon pairing but the truth is that even in episode Aigis I could still argue that these two held a platonic love for Makoto. Just because those two are female do not exempt them from having platonic love to a male friend or automatically elevate their love to be romantic. Surely Yukari cried but Ryoji also suffered greatly to the point that he asked for deliverance to be rid of the memory of love. If anything, I said Ryoji's feeling for Makoto was just as strong as Aigis' and Yukari's. Since Makoto confirmed he held love for neither Yukari or Aigis, it was still one-sided for the both of them.
So, conclusion, all 3 ships are viable!

@@AKingNamedXemo Makoto himself is barely a character. He is literally meant to be an insert for the player. Including a fan favorite, well known character falling in love with you, then having someone interrupt the scene before you can respond, for the sole purpose of preventing the romance from being reciprocated, is a coward move and is unsatisfying to fans. If they wanted to hammer in that Makoto is straight, they should've just had him reject Ryoji straight up, be like "listen I just wanna be friends", but the way they did it is little coward shit and you know it. Also, Makotos literal female counterpart Kotone is canonically bisexual too, she can also get with Elizabeth and Aegis, so they have no reason to not mirror that with makoto. In fact they do mirror her slightly with Makoto, they let him flirt with Ryoji a couple of times too like she did. So not making him dateable is just a tease.
Also, even if its "not what they wanted", fans are perfectly allowed to criticize bad decisions right? No one intends to accidentally knock over a vase, right? But you still get consequences for it.

I don’t think it’s because Atlus is being a coward…. There isn't any romance route and that is in line with all the other p3 versions because what they have with each other transcends mere romance options and this is something not even we-the players-nor the cockblocking (male? or female?) Aegis can do anything to change that.
