I NEVER thought that David would get together with the other band members after all of this time. It's really cool that they're all back together again.
One notable thing about that is that as uncomfortable as David is with the band members, the ONE band member he still gets along with (and has seen socially in recent times) is Jerry. He's had more personal issues with Chris & Tina...but Jerry has said that he & David still meet up for a meal once in a while when one of them is in town.
Um, do you really think that Stephen sits in a room with a computer uploading segments to TH-cam? At best one of his staff said, "I wanna number these segments on TH-cam", and Stephen said, "yeah, whatever, sounds good". But more likely, he has no idea. He's like busy, you know.

“Talking Heads” is one of the best and most creative music groups of all-time. As far as creativity and originality, TH is up near the top along with Depeche Mode, The Cure, R.E.M., and Pet Shop Boys….and Violent Femmes was pretty darn creative and original, and great as well.
As a female bass player, I adore Tina, I think I’m a bit star struck just by watching this interview. Thank you Stephen for the interview. I’ve been listening to them for the past 2 decades, casually playing the bass lines and it never gets old. I would’ve loved to see their concert. 💙
The craziest part was the casual way she became a bass player. The guys had to talk her into it. I guess some people just ooze talent waiting to be channeled.
He's the only one who's held out from playing live with the band again, so David is pretty much the same, just softened up enough to do these interviews because there's money to made from this film. So yeah, he's still a hog.
Byrne's a busy guy, always creating great new stuff. It's generous of him to do the re-release and this promo tour on behalf of the rest of the band. Something for the grandkids.
Chris Frantz's book on the Talking Heads is really good. And I just love that he and Tina seem to have a genuine lifelong love. I know they've had their issues with David over the years, but it sure would be nice if they are mending fences in their later years.
I remember the first time I saw the Talking heads on SNL. The song they performed was “life during wartime” I WAS like “wtf is this?” Now they are classic rock stars & I’ve been a fan ever since. Wow it’s been a long strange trip…
I had the same experience here at the southernmost tip of Africa as a mid-teen kid. Also, the deepest groove of Crosseyed and Painless at full volume had me dancing with abandon all over our lounge.
This Band was way before it’s time . I remember going to the theatre and watching it when it first came out in 1983 . We all just started dancing in the theatre ,And the music still stands up today. Amazing Artists and people. ❤❤🎉

The only concert movie I ever enjoyed more than once was Stop Making Sense, and i wasn't even a Talking Heads fan at the time. Great to hear them together and talking like they're still all friends. Not many bands can do that.
I have one child, a daughter born in late ‘89. In the previous three years, I lost my best friend, my older brother and my favorite uncle. I felt broken and lost. Then, she came along and brought the sunshine back to my life. She was less than a year old when High Enough hit the airwaves and every time she heard it, she would squeal with delight, giggle and kick her legs like crazy! I would sing along and she couldn’t contain her glee! It was the cutest, sweetest thing ever! The lyrics (minus the “call me baby” line) were timely and hit me straight through the heart. I broke up with her mother when my little girl was one and raised her by myself. To this very day, Tommy Shaw is one of her favorite musicians and singers and High Enough is part of the soundtrack to both of our lives. To Tommy and Jack: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My daughter is everything to me and your song is tied to my memories of her as a baby and throughout her life. She’s 34 now and has two girls of her own - one is learning guitar and the other is looking at drum sets! Rock ‘n’ roll is obviosuly in their blood! ❤🤘🏼😁
I was at the show in Canada mentioned at 3:18. It was the Heatwave festival and that was the premiere of the extended band. They took a chance at playing most of “Remain in Light” which wasn’t even released yet and the music was such a departure for them. It was dusk when they came on and it was magical being in the audience. We “got it” and the place was jumping. Will never forget it.

When I was an infant, my mom travelled across the country with my older sisters to visit family and left me behind with my dad. He couldn't find a babysitter so he took me with him when he went with his friends to go see Stop Making Sense in the theater. Apparently I loved it and did not cry or fuss at all during the show. I always grew up liking the band but I didn't really 'get it' until I was 20 and the remastered edition came out (and that's when I was told the story of my first screening). It was a staple at parties through my college years and I am always overjoyed to introduce friends to The Talking Heads. I'm now almost 40 and it's amazing to watch these epic artists come together again and help to introduce a whole new generation to their brilliance ❤

In 1977 I was an 11-year-old hardcore kiss fan and Loved hearing The talking heads when I first them they kind of reminded me of a punk progressive band and was quite the contrast to what I was currently listening to
Great interviews, great to hear Chis, Tina & Jerry's stories! Have loved the band since 1982. Wish I'd been able to see them live in the early 1980s. Did see David's American Utopia Tour in Boston & the set list included TH songs, Naive Melody & Burning Down the House. Chis & Tina are have a great sense of humor are wonderfully kind & humble. Good friend in Norwalk CT met them by chance at a radio station, they invited him over to their house in Wilton, they donated some band memorabilia for a silent auction fund raising. Love This Giant, David & Annie Clark's collaboration is excellent. Road to Nowhere was in the running for our senior prom in 1987.

It was my great good fortune to catch the Remain in Light Tour in Providence, RI. The greatest show I ever saw. Jerry's right that the addition of Hendryx, Worrell, and Belew -- playing from my second-favorite record ever -- they tore the roof off the sucker.
I had the VERY GREAT privilege to see Talking Heads Live in Melbourne Australia 29th January 1984 playing the exact setlist of that concert film 'Stop making Sense'.

Read David Byrnes book "Bicycle Diaries" If you haven't already. Such a great read about his travles around the world revisiting places they played while riding a bike around the areas accompanied by a historian and an architect. Talking Heads is one of my all time favorite bands.
I saw TH as a 4 piece at a club in Toronto. Place called The Horseshoe on Queen St. West. It was 1978, and they were touring in support of their 2nd album, More Songs About Buildings and Food. I'd never even heard their music before that first night. I went on the recommendation of a friend. Liked it so much, I attended their 2nd performance the next night. Also ended up with a few TH albums over the years, as well as the Byrne-Eno collaboration, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. The Stop Making Sense version of the band was interesting, but I kinda liked them better as a 4 piece.

I was 11 when Psycho Killer hit the midwest airwaves. By 1983, I was a fangirl of epic proportions. My husband, who I met in 86, had not heard of them, so Little Creatures was his intro, and then True Stories hit, and he becomes a fanboy next to this old one.❤ This band has been an amazing soundtrack for my life. I hope the musicians feel our love for them.

first time i saw talking heads was in nov 78 at ucsb. they were so tight it was breathtaking. i saw their later concerts and they were great but there was something special about seeing the 4 of them doing more songs about buildings and food.
Talking Heads were an interesting case for me. They sneaked in under the radar. Suddenly there they were. A really powerful storytelling force. And musical. Like no one else. Tina's playing on Once in a Lifetime still melts me.
I distinctly remember on one of those Vh1 shows one of the band members saying David Byrne told him they were never getting back together. Awesome to see they are.
Fantastic interview! I saw TH at least ten (10) times. First time, was in a half full lecture hall at UC Santa Barbara (maybe 500 people?) just after "More Songs About Buildings and Food" ('78 or '79). Beyond "Psycho Killer", they were unknown to 90% of the audience. Never forget sneaking a peek behind me during "Stay Hungry" and the audience was dancing like they were in a trance. The rythyms coming from these four (4) folks were mesmerizing. It was SO amazing to see a band which was so awesome BEFORE they were "known". $5! And, they just got better and better! Also lucked out by catching that Central Park gig with what became the "Stop Making Sense" group. Again, the rythms were mind blowing! Such a fun band, too. Thank you, Talking Heads! And, yes, Tina remains a "babe". Good catch, brother! 🙏🔥🙏
Stop Making Sense was the first Talking Heads album I ever heard. I was around 10, and my older sister and her friends were listening to it. I didn't see the film until a couple of decades later and was totally blown away by it, of course. But it's also a very strong album on its own, with no visuals.
This interview and Steven's recent one also with the 'kids' from the "Merrily We Roll Along" revival are 2 of the sweetest interviews I've ever seen in late night.
I went to Australia in 1995 to play cricket on my best friend's team. He got me set up at a friend's place. The first night was a huge party and great stereo. It seemed 1000 CDs. They said your turn mate put something on. I lov Zep, Beattles, Stones, but lots more. I spied the Talking Heads and Phyco Killer I thought perfect. Well everybody there did as well and a Canadian star was born, for that night and many more 😊
How can it already have been 40 years? The fact that SMS is still the best concert movie ever made speaks volumes about both the genius of the Heads and the shtshow that the music biz has been perpetrating since the late 70s.

It was my great good fortune to catch the Remain in Light Tour in Providence, RI. The greatest show I ever saw. Jerry's right that the addition of Hendryx, Worrell, and Belew -- playing from my second-favorite record ever -- they tore the roof off the sucker.
I had the VERY GREAT privilege to see Talking Heads Live in Melbourne Australia 29th January 1984 playing the exact setlist of that concert film 'Stop making Sense'.

Read David Byrnes book "Bicycle Diaries" If you haven't already. Such a great read about his travles around the world revisiting places they played while riding a bike around the areas accompanied by a historian and an architect. Talking Heads is one of my all time favorite bands.

I saw TH as a 4 piece at a club in Toronto. Place called The Horseshoe on Queen St. West. It was 1978, and they were touring in support of their 2nd album, More Songs About Buildings and Food. I'd never even heard their music before that first night. I went on the recommendation of a friend. Liked it so much, I attended their 2nd performance the next night. Also ended up with a few TH albums over the years, as well as the Byrne-Eno collaboration, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. The Stop Making Sense version of the band was interesting, but I kinda liked them better as a 4 piece.

@@JoshLuke864 Actually, I need to correct that. It was 78, as More Songs About Buildings and Food came out in July 78. Also, I got in free both nights, cuz I knew the guy who was working at the door. Epic 2 nights and the club was full.

I was 11 when Psycho Killer hit the midwest airwaves. By 1983, I was a fangirl of epic proportions. My husband, who I met in 86, had not heard of them, so Little Creatures was his intro, and then True Stories hit, and he becomes a fanboy next to this old one.❤ This band has been an amazing soundtrack for my life. I hope the musicians feel our love for them.

first time i saw talking heads was in nov 78 at ucsb. they were so tight it was breathtaking. i saw their later concerts and they were great but there was something special about seeing the 4 of them doing more songs about buildings and food.
The talking heads were amazing, and they had one of the best frontman ever!

Talking Heads were an interesting case for me. They sneaked in under the radar. Suddenly there they were. A really powerful storytelling force. And musical. Like no one else. Tina's playing on Once in a Lifetime still melts me.
So nice to see them all together again. Nice that David can sort of let the others do the talking.
They helped me get through my confusing youth back in the days!
I distinctly remember on one of those Vh1 shows one of the band members saying David Byrne told him they were never getting back together. Awesome to see they are.

Fantastic interview! I saw TH at least ten (10) times. First time, was in a half full lecture hall at UC Santa Barbara (maybe 500 people?) just after "More Songs About Buildings and Food" ('78 or '79). Beyond "Psycho Killer", they were unknown to 90% of the audience. Never forget sneaking a peek behind me during "Stay Hungry" and the audience was dancing like they were in a trance. The rythyms coming from these four (4) folks were mesmerizing. It was SO amazing to see a band which was so awesome BEFORE they were "known". $5!
And, they just got better and better! Also lucked out by catching that Central Park gig with what became the "Stop Making Sense" group. Again, the rythms were mind blowing! Such a fun band, too.

Stop Making Sense was the first Talking Heads album I ever heard. I was around 10, and my older sister and her friends were listening to it. I didn't see the film until a couple of decades later and was totally blown away by it, of course. But it's also a very strong album on its own, with no visuals.
Almost teared up when they mentioned CBGB. What an era.

This interview and Steven's recent one also with the 'kids' from the "Merrily We Roll Along" revival are 2 of the sweetest interviews I've ever seen in late night.
I went to Australia in 1995 to play cricket on my best friend's team. He got me set up at a friend's place. The first night was a huge party and great stereo. It seemed 1000 CDs. They said your turn mate put something on. I lov Zep, Beattles, Stones, but lots more. I spied the Talking Heads and Phyco Killer I thought perfect. Well everybody there did as well and a Canadian star was born, for that night and many more 😊

How can it already have been 40 years? The fact that SMS is still the best concert movie ever made speaks volumes about both the genius of the Heads and the shtshow that the music biz has been perpetrating since the late 70s.
